Looks kind of like a Max and a Terminal....but aren't they labeled as Maximum and Terminal?
-
I saw those this morning as well and have heard nothing about an epoxy ball coming out from AMF, especially with all the problems with the EPX.
I would be leary to buy until more info can be found..

Didn't AMF have the epoxy technology first? Remember when Ozio and Duke threw that test ball at bowl expo some years back? I believe it was epoxy.
-
yea but the reserve has not been met..
The descriptions of the 2 balls are terrible.. Are they NIB? No specs or anything listed.. I wonder if these are some type of blem balls this guy is trying to pass off as epoxy balls?

AMF did have 3 different colors of the epoxy Velocity at the bowling seminars 2 summers ago.
The difference in hook character of the balls was kept in check by the color of the ball. Allegedly the only difference among them was the curing time.
The longer the ball took to cure the less it hooked.
Very impressive piece of technology at the time....the oil absorption tesats, cleaning regimens etc were all very informative by the AMF guys.

How can you say these are Blems???
If you know somehting about this please enlighten us..
-
I don't think he was saying they are blems. I think he was asking if they are since the info provided by the seller was so uninformative.

Something is very wrong with this, first of all because that is nothing close to the velocity testers they showed. All the epoxy balls are a solid color, and not a light flashy color like that. Plus one looks glossy, and as anyone with experience with the EPX it never gets that shiney.

I have definitely seen the blue Velocity before. The AMF rep from the Chicago area brought one into the shop a week or so before Bowl Expo last year. This was when AMF was still supposed to be the only company producing the epoxy balls. It looked just like the one in the auction. Blue with the phasing and the two-toned label. He had it shiny as well. It had the same nasty chemical sent as the EPX T1. That was the only thing he hated about it. The funky odor. He told us to be "hush-hush" about it because it was officially being introduced at Bowl Expo. Hopefully it's been long enough and he won't get in trouble.
I remember him saying it had a pretty weak core but still hooked a lot. Of course this was when there was still a bunch of hype about the new technology. He also said that there were a few other colors out there and that they all differed in the amount of hook depending on the curing time. He said they had played with a few that went dead straight and others that hooked at your feet, the only diference being the curing time.
If the aqua one has the Triumph core I think I just might have to get one. The color is pretty cool. Kind of like a Nitro/R on steroids.

The seller just added those photos and more of a description after he originally listed these ball. Now I have no doubt they are legit. I still would want more info on them before I spent that much money on an epoxy ball since the EPX was such a bust for most people.
Just my opinion but thanks to the seller for clarifying..

I'll agree....I thought they were questionable...but with the additional information the seller has posted most of those questions have been answered.
The only remaining one is are they USBC approved?

tgs300,
I see no way these could be USBC approved. These are test balls for balls never even manufactured so no reason that the test balls would be approved..

I bowled team in Corpus Christi with a guy using an AMF epoxy ball.
It was an "overseas" release. Ball burnt the pattern up really quickly, and pOd the rest of the righties, bowling with us.
He used it on a 40 ft. Sport shot yesterday, made the shot look stupid - easy.
Ball does roll through anything.

I believe the ball you are referring to is the Project X which was an international release with the same EPX cover and a Triumph core. This ball was released for the Asian market and there a few floating around the US. The ball resembles the EPX, smells like it, and rolls just as strong.

Eric,
I think that was the name.
It did look just like the EPX.
It was interesting to see how it absorbed oil and darkened.
He loved the ball. He is some type of AMF staffer. His name is DANIEL SVEHLA, he's about 20 years old.

The balls on eBay didn't look anything like the ball he was using.
His ball looked like a regular EPXt1, with a different logo.

I was wondering. If these balls were never released, and never approved by the usbc/abc, how can they have a supposed $280 retail price?
The seller is saying that was the retail price, but if they were never on the open market, they CAN'T have a retail price, can they?
-
Anything can have a MSRP slapped on it before it's release or even made.
-
As fun as it mite be to try one, the seller just added that the balls are not USBC legal, and if they arn't i personally see no reason in buying them.
These balls are a great concept though, i loved the Triumph core and with a strong cover like these have it would make a flooded lane feel like dry one.

Project X is approved but for the ball on the first post, it's not legel if the cover is different than the normal Terminal Velocity.
Buyers be aware
-
If you would see the latest add on ebay for the velocity I have stated it is banned from wibc use.I also have a buy it now price of $61.00,it was brought to my attention that these are not wibc approved by the wibc. Some here think I was trying to scam some people, first the velocity was wibc approved and even the box said it was approved. When I was contacted by the wibc reguarding this ball I went to my adds on ebay and added that it was banned from wibc use.Last thing if Amf wanted to approve this ball they could do so,this ball is sooo much better than the columbia epoxy imho.
-
this ball skid long with very weak backend
-
Dear Gordon The balls we have and drilled are far from being weak,if you have used one like what we have maybe you are using it polished in heavy oil.Scuff the surface and it will hook,if you have many games on it try soaking it in hot water it will bring back any lost hook.
-
In my posts it should read usbc not wibc sorry.
-
these are illegal: http://www.bowl.com/specs/ballNonconforming.aspx

wow, great find.. I also see Columbia Bonanza II's on that list. There was someone else on here selling EPX epoxy Bonanza blems so I guess those are banned as well..

If the first-quality ball is approved, the Bonanza ball is as well.

Yes, if the Bonanza is a technical blem. The green/gray Epoxy Velocity has a different core/combination than the regular Velocity, so it's a different ball that must be approved.
