Title: I finally bought a RADAR!
Post by: PropheCy on March 27, 2006, 06:53:26 AM
Hi!

After a lot of reflection and reading I finally choosen the AMF RADAR. Every review of this ball are good. I'm sure I will love it cause I play since 12 years with an AMF NINJA that go far on lane and have strong backend (on dry-medium lane). The RADAR should do this too but on medium-oiled lane. I played in a tournament this weekend and my NINJA doesn't performed like on medium lane. It was difficult to have the final strong backend. I decided to buy another one today and I choosen the RADAR over the Supreme Justice Pearl. Hope I made the good choice. I will have it friday.

You'll definitely like the Radar. My Radar and SJP are drilled almost exactly the same, and they're closer than you'd think. I think the SJP is more skid-flippy, but the Radar handles carrydown much better. You couldn't have gone wrong with either ball, let us know how you like it!

a very strong ARC....not so much skid snap....he shot 268 last game.

a blended crown pattern to about 38 ft...very dry outside 5....guardian overlay of some type....

He's refering to a ball getting good length down the lane (skid) and then making a sudden, hard move in the backend (snap).  Often refered to as skid/snap or skid/flip or maybe a hockey stick reaction.  As oppossed to a reaction that is more of an even arc.

ARC = more linear curve? Like Tom Baker in 2004 PBA final against Mika?

I prefer skid/flip over arc because my NINJA (that I play since 14 years) is a skid/flip ball. Hope I choosen the right ball for me...! The radar is more medium-oil ball and supreme justice pearl is more medium ball. I wanted a ball that can act good on oiled lane.

Why do you say that?

I only have a cleaner bottle that I bought like in 1992. I'm not sure I can use it on my RADAR. What would be the best cleaner for it?

For now I played 21 games and I didn't cleaned it a single time.

a+

Hi!

I played 6 other games today so I played a total of 27 games this weekend! At 3 different place. The RADAR is just AMAZING! I like it a lot! This is one of my best game this week end (256) and I also played 258. My 2 last triple are 694 and 601.

Prophecy's 6-7 pins spare (just throw the ball like a plain 10pin)

Let me know what you think! Next time I will put the camera near the lane or under the return ball.

I'm from Beauce but I play at Quebec City.

Yes I know that I jump after my release and I try hardly to stop that but its difficult. I play like this since 10 years +! Any tips to stop that?

Few step to the right? When I jump I already go to the right...! I jump after the release so I don't think this have bad effect on my playing. Not sure to understand what you mean by forcing myself to step over few inchs to the right.

I think that if you added some knee bend that it would help to get rid of the "hop". I also hopped when I was younger and adding more knee bend helped me to overcome it. Until you're used to sliding with your foot a little more to the right, you may fall off balance at the line a few times. One way to overcome this is to really concentrate on having your center of gravity over your slide foot. That's easier to achieve when you are lower to the ground and utilizing a knee bend. You can still lift through the ball at the bottom of the swing, so don't be afraid that you'll lose hit on the ball.

By the way, that ball reacts great for you! Good luck!

Walking E, yes I need to slide a little more to the right. I practiced it few minutes ago (just the approach) and I bended my knee a little more and slided more to the right it was way more "confortable".

I jump like this since  A LOT of time but I know it since only few weeks. I play with my mother and grandmother each friday afternoon (my grandmother is so good, she play 200+ often, she's 73 years old, she play with a Track Voodoo) and its her that said to me that I jump after my shot. I didn't realized it before this time.

Thank you for your helpfull input! Next time I will have a better view to see all my strike and better view on the ball on the lane (how it react).
