Anyone try an N-Code at 4000?
« on: September 23, 2008, 12:22:21 PM »
Looking for some feedback from anyone that adjusted the shell and/or put a tame layout on this ball.  I currently have mine in oob with the pin under the ring and the mb 2" right of thumb which is a 4 x 4 for me.  Was thinking of drilling another with a 2 x 5 and hitting it with 4000 and high polish.  I think if I went with a 5 x 3 (pin over bridge) that it would be too uncontrollable on the back.  This ball is strong!

I'm surprised that I don't see more talk and excitement about this ball in this forum.  The ball gives effortless revs off your hand and has tremendous turn on the back.  It reminds me a lot of the Radar with how it revs so easy but it is much stronger on the back than the Radar.  When the backends are fresh this is too much ball but it's so much fun throwing it and watching it rev all the way down that I just want to keep throwing it.  This ball really loosens your arm swing because you know it's going to make the turn in the back.  I don't want to touch the cover because the way it is it's perfect for when the lanes have a little longer oil or some carrydown, that's why I will be picking up another and trying something a little tamer.  The ball is poetry in motion.

Mine is drilled pin over bridge, 5-1/4" from axis with the MB 4-1/2" from PAP.  I don't have a lot of games on the ball, but it is MUCH stronger than the Code.  I haven't adjusted the cover yet, because I want to leave it in box finish and keep it in the bag for tournaments.  I am surprised that there isn't much talk on the forum about this ball, as AMF is making some really great equipment right now.  The Code is one of the best I have thrown and I really like the Radar Lock and Radar Alert.

John, didn't see this until today but if what I've seen and they say is true I will be getting a second N Code and drilling weaker myself.  I'll keep you posted if you don't get any feedback about cover adjustments.

I'm looking at this ball!  I think a low-rg layout (2" pin to pap) and kick the cg back toward the label, would tame the heavy oil and wet/dry I'm experiencing on our house shot.

Because I am speed-dominant/rev-challenged, I think this combo would be spot-on!  Our pro-shop doesn't carry amf though...  Where's the best place to pick one of these up?

That sounds similar to the layout I'm going to use on my N Code.

I plan on putting the MB right of the thumb about 1" and the pin in the 3" from PAP area.

My original Code is drilled plain old label and I probably will do something similar for the N Code.  The pin is long so if it is placed a little high I will make surface adjustments as needed.

I ordered the ball - hopefully will have it late this week and drilled up in time for travel league next Sunday.

Got it at Buddies thanks JS.
