Mega Friction... anymore reviews??
« on: February 03, 2009, 02:12:16 AM »
I am thinking of picking one of these bad boys up and was wondering how everyone is liking this ball? Anyone changed the cover?

I know its pretty new, but there are zero reviews in the review section so I thought I would ask here..

never threw an exopy ball, frankly I do not see how it could be. The Mega has teeth, just a "pure nasty hooking ball". Maybe they should have called it Nasty Jr.

I have a Project X, but I haven't drilled it yet.  Don't think I'll see enough oil to ever use it.

Is there any truth to the rumor that the MF has a particle load?

No rumor -- Eric confirmed that the MF does have a particle load.

The project X was an overseas(asain market) release from AMF, debuted right at the same time the Columbia epx came out...same cover but with an amf core in it.

I have spoken to a reliable source who has thrown both the Epox and the Mega, not a fair comparison, the mega is much stronger, like I said earlier it has teeth !!!

just a heads up on the Mega, I have only seen one ball that has hooked as much as the Mega, it was at 320 with a heavy particle load. I attempted to throw mine last night in practice it was not a good match even between 3rd-4th arrows. It creats a ton of friction in the mids and was left of the head pin at 45 feet, at box finish. The ball will eat up a heavy long pattern at box, for those who don't have a lot of hand it will make them think they have found the fountain of youth and have been reincarnated as Max-Bob revs, the label should have read find wider lanes not "caution this ball hooks". To be used on an every night basis I would think 4000 finish or maybe a dose of liquid teflon might be necessary to get it down lane. It will hook a bunch, plain and simple !!

Wow .. and that thing hooks.. if you drilled it strong and didn't have a flood the ball gets zero length..mine at 6 inch pin to PAP is still a beast..

Is the MF a little better with getting through the heads. I imagine it has to have less flare than the AMB.  Warning.. if this ball is anything close to the AMB you need oil... and alot of it.. Don't think this is going to be like a cell.. Some say they need alot of oil for the cell.  If this thing is anything like the AMB it is a Cell x 3.

i drilled mine last night 5 x 5 placing the pin above and a little right of ring finger with pin stacked under ring finger no balance hole.   I tried it for two ball on my league practice thru middle where the oil is the heaviest.  We have a med to med heavy ths but it is extreme wet dry it is dense in middle and toast outside of 8.   I tried throwing it at about 20 and it puked at the dots before the arrows didnt even try to get into a roll.  Even with the pin being up it didnt even try to get any length.  It tried to hook as soon as it hit lane this ball needs oil and alot of it. I bought it for a flood ball for tourneys and got just that i am going out of state so i might find more oil when i practice this weekend i will update when i see what this ball can do on the given shot it is designed for.  I left it in oob finish.
--------------------
I want my share of the bounty but I cant find enough oil for this monster, i dont want to polish it cause it rolls so good now damn I hate dilemmas.
