Michael Jordan Black Ball.
« on: July 29, 2003, 12:32:22 AM »
Does any one in this site knows something about the AMF Michael Jordan
ball?, i've been looking for some reviews but there´s none...
here in Mexico there is a AMF center that is selling this ball, as the last survivor of this model with good price...
i've been playing with AMF balls by 2 years and i know that AMF company is re-editing their balls, like Valor Victory and courage are models that were released previously with little differences like color and name. My question is if the mj black ball has the same features of center and coverstock
of other ball released recently....

thanks...
Rodrigo(Cid16).

If it's the orange one with black lines that looks like a basketball, it is banned even by the ABC. crap!

If it's the black pearl, called the MJ SLam, it is an excellent medium-light to medium oil ball; it got rave reviews but was not popular solely because it was an AMF ball. It was made by Columbia; cover was Super-Flex, I am fairly certain.

Also see: http://www.bowlingballreviews.com/ball.asp?ballid=259

it was a black pearl with a matter (dull, 1000 grit) finish.

all right...thanks!!!!
is the black mj Slam with red logo...
i saw the figure in the last link posted by Charlest..
and i think is the same model AMF made for the "Hawk" blue.. with dual torque blocks and superflex in the cover...and as far as i know is the same for one of the Valors and very close to the Enfuego
these conbination results in a very forgiving ball for me, i think i will get it, before someone other does.... the price is lower than a valor, and i could make some experiments with a different drill....
any suggestions???

thanks again....!!!

a tiny word of warning.
The Hawk and the Enfuego are solids.
This is a sanded pearl. While the difference is not dramatic, there is a difference, ESPECIALLY if you polish it.

ok...you got it!!!
i have to use all my balls polished..
because there is no much oil in the mexican bowling centers...

then, this means that this sanded pearl surface could be polished easier...and in consequence gets more deep down the lane...
well this is good for me... because my type of release....

ok.. i´m very pleased on this news...
thanks a lot...Sir-Charlest

Sir? My father was "Sir".

The point is a sanded pearl acts somewhat like a solid; a polished pearl skid a lot more and becomes more skid/flip when it is polished.
