My oldies collection increases again
« on: August 25, 2009, 02:36:07 AM »
And for the first time its an AMF ball, a Velocity to be exact. Thought they were money when they came out but my home centre didnt have an account with the AMF wholesaler in this part of the world. I still think if this thing came out as a 'Cuda assymetrical' they're would have been tons of them sold and Columbia300 might still be at West Avenue. I'll say how it went next week when it has a test next to some Track and Columbia oldies

Had a few throws on some day after leftovers(which all my practice seems to be on!!) Took this from  from a nasty looking 600 sand job straight too 4000 abralon and it looks pretty. Its drilled pin 3" from pap, mb 5 1/2" from pap with hole a couple inches below the pap.

Once i moved away from the dry outsides i started to get a look i liked, it can create some angle even with the earlier than usual breakpoint because of the dry( 1/2 pocket 6 pin yeahhh!!) It seems to be stronger than my Flipside Wicked(same pin to pap distance, that things a hair earlier stands up in front of the pocket a little more) and a little arcier from the spot than the Thrash. Will go bowl on some fresh Monday and see what i see then.

At 4000 I can't imagine you're going to see much movement unless you have super clean backends.

The Velocity has a super light load of particle and was never recommended for anything more than light to light-medium.

I never had much luck with mine on higher volumes of oil, and that was at OOB, 800, 1000, and 1500.

Still, it was a good ball.  My first was replaced due to crumbling filler.  I used a different drilling on the replacement and didn't like it.  Had it plugged and redrilled like the 1st, but never got the same reaction.  I ended up giving it to my teammate this year and he's having good luck with it so far.

Yeah once the fresh stated to break down after a few games the breakpoint got a little erratic. The early rolling Flipside wicked was great after i changed. maybe i'll take it down to 2000 for a little more versatility
