Sideways vs the Virtual Energy
« on: September 01, 2009, 01:37:37 AM »
I've drill both and have throw both for about a week now.  When I read Sideways, I thought this ball was going to be very strong off the break point.  To qualify that, I drilled the Sideways with pin under the bridge and the CG to the right of my thumb.  This drilling on the Sideways gave me good length and fair break point and continuation through the pins.  Extactly what I was looking for.  Thanks to the drilling recommendation from Absolutebowling.

The Virtual Energy drilled pin next to ring finger CG stacked is much stronger.  Gets through the heads very well, comes off the break point much harder then the Sideways and the continuation is outstanding.

I have just compared apples and oranges I know.

But the outcome was a great one two combination.  Knowing when the Virtual Energy is finishg too strong and being able to change to the Sideways and still have tremendous carry is great.  When i used the Sideways too early, I stung quite a few 10 pins.  But now that I've throw the two quite a lot. the combination is outstanding.

Add in a Megat Friction, Gemstone and a Natural, I should be in good shape for Winter.

I did just order a second Sideways and I hope to drill it like my Virtual Energy to then have a good comparison even though I know the drillings will be similar, but ball dynamics might not be.

I'm going to post this in the Storm section also so that the Storm viewers who don't usually read the AMF post can give me some feedback.

Did the sideways need a weight hole?? with the Cg being next to your thumb?

Not sure what your pin to pap length is on the sideways compaired to the Energy, sounds like you mellowed out the sideways with a longer pin to pap with pin under bridge.  I have mine drilled 4" x 3 1/2 with a P4 Weight Hole. (http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g271/wasahawaiianrat/sideways.jpg)  Personally my Sideways is way more angular than the Energy, i'd be curious to see how it your second one works for you.  either way sounds like it works!!

The Sideways has a small weight hole.  I don't want to change the first Sideways at all.  It fits in my arsenal tremendously.  the Sideays is drilled weaker then the Virtual Energy, thats why I said it was like comparing apples and oranges.  So if the Sideways is more angular then the Virtual energy, thats what I'm looking for.  So I'll drill it like the VE and see.

Thanks for the response.
