Title: Night Hawk Pearl - Preview (709)
Post by: tekneek on October 11, 2007, 03:20:35 AM
Thanks to the guys down the street for sending a Nigh Hawk Pearl to test drive. #15.04 with a 5" pin. Drilled 4 x 4 pin up 3 3/4", x-hole drilled 6 1/2" from grip center, 2 1/2" down the VAL, statics after drilling were, 7/8 oz top, 1/2 oz side, with 3/8 oz thumb, box finish. Fresh modified HS, 42' buff, Infinity oil, with out of bounds right of 7.

I generally do not roll a ball I drill in league without a brief break in period to get use to the balls motion. This was an exception, the ball was exceptional smooth rolling, good midlane read with a controllable motion. As the shot began to transition, I did not notice a change in reaction, no flat tens. When the shot brole down I just went 5 and 5 moving deeper with more hand, it responded, all in all a great ball coming out later this month, medium oil ball without the high dollar price tag. I was pleased with its performance and handling 246, 236, 227.

I don't know how to classify this ball yet...its not skid/flip and its not really an arc typ reaction...

its the heaviest rolling pearl ball i have ever had...the thing absolutely HITS and HARD too...i was talking to Eric about it and i think the colors are playing tricks with my head and thats why i can't get a good read off of what it is doing exactly...i'm to busy staring at the pretty colors

my video will be up in a day or two...maybe even tonight if i get a chance to edit it!

^^^ Battle of the NHP Videos! Haha...no offense, you have a slight advantage in camera quality...

It definitely is a HEAVY rolling pearl...it is a weird, different reaction (not your typical skid-flip, or your typical hard arc), but quite wonderful...

From the Drill Instruction Sheet:

16# 15# 14#
RG 2.508 2.520 2.541
Diff 0.043 0.043 0.042

The core is the same core used in the original Night Hawk (black).

The cover is supposed to have been updated and/or tweaked in order to give the desired reaction on today's lane conditions.

According to ET (as posted in another thread), the NHP is slated for release late this month.

Hope this helps.
