Of any of the 900G/AMF balls this one interests me the most for medium house type conditions.  Good numbers and not an uber strength cover but not a weak one either F55 hybrid pearl.

Got to say the previous remakes they did just didn't look as good as the originals but this looks to be much better. Very nice looking.

This should be similar to the 900G Favorite and Surething. Both good balls.

If it's like the Favorite knowledgeable bowlers should be all over this one.

The Sure Thing was pretty close, but the Favorite looked better. LOL I loved them both, great flat oil balls.

F/S55 is awesome on the mediums. The cover on my King Cobra is silly.

What's the release date on this?? Also I notice that the core is listed as symmetric, where as the original was asymmetric but the mass bias numbers were extremely low. Were the numbers low enough, that in today's technology it's just considered a symmetric core??  I am very interested in this ball. I still have a gathering of original 1998-99 blacks laying around in 15&16 lbs. unfortunately I've dropped to 14lbs and I'm really missing my Nighthawk.

This is 100% the next ball I get. I wish AMF would have released it with the Torch and Decimate, because I'm sure a lot of us would have had it already

I can tell you first hand that this ball is pretty amazing.  Still has that old school feel.  My tug shots seem to hold better, my wide shots always seem to pick up give me a good chance to knock all 10 down.  This is in no way a full review, but the ball is smooth as can be.  Talk about confidence in my hands... I feel like I can't shoot under 700 with this thing.

I'll probably end up going to league with a 2-ball tote, one "T" Pad and one polished.

We're even going to throw a "T" pad in every single Night Hawk SE box so everyone can try them out!

Track900,

The original Night Hawk had a mass bias differential of .001-.002.  At the time, the USBC did not regulate what could and could not be labeled or engraved as asymmetric.  Nowadays, anything over 0.010 must be marked asymmetric.  Anything from .005-.009 is the manufacturers choice.  In this case, the low mass bias differential kept us from engraving a "psuedo" MB marking that so many people were familiar with on the original Night Hawk.

ThomasR. Thank you very much for the information. So this is the exact same core as the original??  How does the coverstock do with surface changes??

That was one of my favorite things about the original Nighthawk, even with surface that ball was still very clean in the fronts and just absolutely perfect mid-lane motion and roll. Like a hard sweeping arc, that never stopped. Possibly the most versatile balls I've ever owned

Why, did I always think that the old Nighthawk was assymentric?

Oops didn't realize I had missed all the other posts.

Thomas could you compare this to the Favorite.  It looks like a combination weightblock.  Favorite core with the top flip block.  Or was the slice out of the bottom of the weight block always there.

Oh, by the way....

Thomas, one of my real favorites!  AMF Angle Evolution Extra!  Why did I ever sell!
http://123bowl.com/ball.cfm?ballid=37

How much more mass bias did this one have than the Nighthawk?

Any chance to bring that baby back?  With a modern coverstock?

To Lucky Lefty -  I have a Angle Evolution Extra for sale. I believe it is a 16lb ball.

The Favorite had the S57 Shell.  This has the 55.  The core is the Favorite, modified with a top flip block and denser middle mass (this was done to get the same effect as the original's outer ring, which is now unavailable do to manufacturing restrictions).  Overall, the two cores are remarkably similar in dimensions and density distribution.

ThomasR,

What about the surface adjustments I referred to earlier??

If you liked the Favorite because of the shell's ability to roll awesome at 2000, 4000 or polished, then you'll love this one too.  So far I've thrown it at all 3 of these surfaces with pretty good success.  The 2000 definitely gave me an early read, but I was able to shoot 245, 235, 236 on old wood lanes with it.  Polished, the Night Hawk SE didn't turn into a skid flip machine, but it will retain a little more energy and length while still being very smooth and controllable (shot 770 with this surface).  Ultimately, I'm probably going to carry around one at polished and one at "T" pad at all times!
