Title: Original Bull Whip
Post by: bowler231 on November 21, 2016, 07:43:28 AM
Does anyone have the ball specs for the original Bull Whip? What about a picture of the core? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That was my first resource. That's why I'm here. All it says is RG low, Differential high. I'm looking for the actual specs.

It was something like RG 2.48 Diff 0.048. The same core is in the Bull Whip SE. I didn't very my care for the thickness of the SE but the SE rolled close to the original so I couldn't complain.

I don't think it is the same core or core specs. I guess no ones knows or has actual information from 1998.

I had two of those balls. They were two of my favorite pieces at the time I used them. I think righty Complex pretty much nailed it, and I trust his instincts since he is a professional driller.

All the balls that I am drawn to, and seem to fit my style have those exact stats. RG at 2.48 and differential .048. When I went down the list of the successful balls I have used, they were all pretty much in that same area....VG, Optimus, Phase, even an old Quest. Check out those stats and see....

If I am not mistaken, the original Bull Whip had one, if not the lowest RG in a bowling ball, and was around 2.45.

I do not remember the diff and I am 99% sure the new core is NOT the original core from 20 years ago.

The original Bull Whip I believe was poured by Ebonite before AMF moved to Columbia for production.

And that's what I was looking for. I know for a fact that the min RG was raised by USBC some time ago and that older balls had much lower RG's than they do today. I also remember seeing the core a long time ago and know that it looked nothing like the core in the S.E.

I'm trying to get accurate information as I have just acquired one and want see how it fits into my arsenal.

i appreciate the trust lol but drillers can be wrong. Bowl123 used to have that information. I don't know what happened to it. I remember it being like 2.46 or 8 and .048. The core shape is the same, the density is different. I remember having this convo when the SE came out. My question is, why do you ask???? You have a few new ones you eyeballing? LOL

You guys sure it was in the .048 diff range? i swore it was much higher almost like the SD-73 in the .07 range.. and i think 2.45 for rg was generous.. i think it was in the 2.43 maybe 2.44 area..
