I would have to agree.  I don't have the solid version to compare to but my pearl is crazy good.

Mine is drilled 4x4 also.  I like the fact that I can play an 8 to 5 on the fresh shot and as they break down move in a couple of boards and play the little belly.  The real plus is that using this ball allows to play a part of the lane that most bowlers wont.  I don't see many league bowlers playing outside of 10 and this ball plays great from there.

I have both the solid and the pearl. I like the solid fine, but the pearl is a standout. A great medium-light ball. It's one of the few pearls in recent years that is both strong enough to make the turn in the back, but seems to almost "know" not to overreact when it sees dry.

yep Jess a real winner, been hard pressed to use something other in league, but when you average 220+ night in and out, it is awfully hard to keep it in the bag, although the Break out is getting more and more use, but on a much deeper line

Question: Why not just go ahead and release this ball? It's obviously a great piece, and they already have the tech down, so why not?

Beats me. Pro shop folks tell me they can't move mild stuff as well as hook monsters, so that might explain it.

By the way, except for my Break Pearl and when I bring out my old Bone XS, I get more people asking me what that ball is due to its looks. It's roughly the same color as the Heist solid, except pearlized, but I get more people saying how nice-looking the ball is. If it were me the thing would have been released long ago.

Have had mine since Steve mentioned limited quantities many months ago!  Have it polished - pin over mid (guess that would be considered about 5.25" pin to PAP for me - will post pic when I arrive home this evening) and I use it before going to my Natural (if needed).  Just like JessN16 mentioned... very smooth, yet strong enough to turn corner.  With my layout, it doesn''t jump off the dry, yet movement is quite strong (even with polish).  Excellent piece.

I've never owned the Pearl, but I have found the solid so versatile that I am now on my second solid.

Brick,

Just the opposite for me.  Never owned the Solid (I'm partial to pearls, especially with the shortage of oil I often see), but really like the Heist Pearl

Have one on its way from Steve.  Looking forward to adding this ball to bag.  The center where I bowl league puts out a med light pattern.  Reading the comments on this thread should fill the hole that I have in my bag as I have been looking for a controllable pearl.

Got my new Heist Pearl and used it last night.  This ball may be just what I have been looking for with the low volume short pattern that they put out for our 5 man league on Thursdays.  I struggled to hold the line with my Villain the first game and decided to pull out the Heist Pearl.  Smooth continuous arc best describes the ball reaction that I shot.  It took me 3 frames to line up and I went 234 in the second game followed by 246 in the third game.  I had been in a slump for the past 5 weeks and have been searching for a way to play the shot successfully. I am looking forward to using again in our Saturday night mixed league.  Thanks to Steve(tekneek) for the ball and layout that he drilled it up with.

Got to admit that while I had not used AMF before I am fast becoming a fan of their equipment.

Seems like the solid and the pearl would make a great 1-2 punch. Anybody tried this combo?

With the solid, which type of surface prep do you think works best?
