Radar Lock????
« on: August 04, 2008, 06:57:55 AM »
I've read the reviews here and at bowlingballreviews.com (but I haven't seen the video....hint!) Got to throw one yesterday but it had a switch grip without an inner sleeve so I threw slowly(I'm not proficient at no thumbing(drat).

At this very slow speed and after watching it slowly troll and rev down the lane my impression is it is a lot like my midlane heavy Supreme Justice pearl but with a more angular and big continuous backend!

Am I sort of on track with this assessment?

This ball is a beast, I hit mine with a 4000 abr pad to get the shine off it was just too much. For me on shorter patterns its very angular, not total skid snap but very hard hooking. On the longer patterns its awesome, seems like its gets a better midlane the more I swing. This ball makes me want to try a Break pearl which Ive heard is similar in movement. It looks awesome on the lane as an added bonus.

Just the teeny I've seen versus the delightful looking break pearl makes me think the Radar Lock is a little more angular on its move!  But I was very slow with a switch grip without a switch!

Talk about knuckling!

That is pretty much what I see with my Radar Lock.  Mine was a 2nd (color blem) with a 4.5-5" pin.  Pin is on grip centerline, about 4" above midline with the CG under ring, low weight hole.  With the high pin placement, it gets a lot of length with a pretty angular backend.

Lucky,

It has been a while since I have thrown it.  I'll try to take it with me this weekend when I practice and possibly shoot some video with it.  If I remember correctly, with my high pin placement, most of the movement is in the backend.

Mine is pin over ring (approx 1 o'clock), cg is on the center grip line but kicked over. Its a 4x4, but its doesnt look like a typical stacked because my pap is over an 1" up. When they say a med-heavy ball, they mean it. Ive used it on the TOC, scorpion, and shark with good success. Too much ball for the viper, uncontrollable backend for me.

I bowl w/ a guy who uses his regularly on our summer league. What I like about it is that it reads the front very well and is strong off the break point. I definitely liked that look it gave as the lanes transitioned.

The Lock is strong off of the spot. Makes a defined move, but does not like carrydown, but what polished reactive does?
