Title: Returning the Cover on the Heist to NIB
Post by: Brickguy221 on March 17, 2008, 03:24:35 PM
My Heist is not ready to touch up the cover yet, but is starting to show some really light tracking, but hasn't effected the ball performance yet. I contacted Eric or someone recently about this and he(they)said to sand ball to 1000 Grit with an Abralon Pad and then use rubbing compound on it.

There are numerous different brands and grits of rubbing coumpounds, so my question is specificially which rubbing compound to use? What rubbing compound does AMF (Global) use on the Heist when they make this ball?

Jim, I use 3M brand compound, gray color liquid in a black bottle, most all auto parts houses sell it, Auto Quest is where I get mine, about $16.00 bottle pint, or $32.00 for a Qt bottle. Has enough grit to eliminate scractes and sanding lines up to 1200 grit, leaves a high gloss shine, very easy to apply with a spinner.

Thanks Steve. I got your message and returned a reply on a 3M Compound that I found in my cubbard. Don't recall what I bought it for, but never used it.
