shell thickness
« on: March 10, 2007, 12:20:03 PM »
I just picked up a new 14# Orbit Extreme. The cover on this ball is only about 1/4 inch thick. This is by far the thinest cover I have ever seen. Usually they are at least 1/2 an inch thick.

The ball rolls fine. I was just concerned about durability.

This is a good question and i too would like to know. We drilled a 14lb Night Hawk Remake as part of that AMF premotional deal a few weeks ago, and the coverstock on that was just about 1/4 of an inch thick too.

But i have seen worse. When plugging and redrilling an Track Xception X-Out the thumb hole had coverstock which was exactly 1/8 of an inch thick, and the entire ball was full of spider cracks...go figure.
