Impending Doom was kind enough recently to part with a 2013 AMF Solar Flare to me at a fair and reasonable price. I have been shooting strong 600+ series with it as I always did before my original cracked on me. I know many of you don't think of AMF as a possible alternative in ball selection. But, the Solar Flare is one of the best asymmetrical pearl balls I have ever thrown. It is so smooth on a THS and holds the line to the pocket both on fresh as well as through transition. Only wish AMF would decide to release it again.
Thank You Impending Doom for letting me continue my love affair with the Solar Flare long after it was no longer available from AMF.

AMF has always had great bowling balls. I've shot 7 of my 8 300 games with one and my lone 800 series. It really sucks that 900 Global has let it practically die. If another ball company ever takes the contract over, I may go back.

I agree. I have had multiple 300 games with AMF as well as my only 800 series. I am the only one in my area that uses AMF and I too wish they would come out with more stuff. I would love to see them come back out with the Clutch line. I have been looking for some of that stuff in 14lbs but if someone does have it you have to give up your first born for it. I had the King Cobra remake and that ball was so special but after so many years it just lost it's pop on the backend no matter how many times I resurfaced it. I'd love to get my hands on another one of those as well.

The solar flare is such an amazing ball, glad to have discovered it via this thread. My favourite dry lane ball- and where I usually bowl, it's ALWAYS dry. Long, controllable. I'm surprised it's an Asym!
