Question on Clutch
« on: August 16, 2009, 10:36:40 AM »
Ok, so I just got my S75 (a story for another time) and am now looking to try another 900 or AMF release. I know I should prolly be looking at a ball above the S75, aiming at BH or MF, but I'm intrigued by the Clutch.

Here's the problem. I keep hearing this is a strong ball, but I've ALWAYS, ALWAYS failed with a ball over 2.50 Rg due to my style. And yes, that kinda includes the S75...
Bottom liune, is it fair for me to be scared of anything over Rg 2.50 or is it just the matchup between core and cover that counts?

I have every intention of drilling the clutch w/the exact drill as my S75/ Break pearl. Wont be for a few weeks but it will be before league starts The S75 is a really strong ball, I had to put it away 1/2 way through #3 on the shark the other night. Im not doubting the clutch will be strong, but I dont think it will be as strong as the S75.

Don't doubt that the Clutch won't be as strong as your S75, be concerned that it will be stronger! Cuz it is!!!

Thanks for the replies, but I think I've worded my question poorly. My apologies... Let me try again.

Balls with a Rg higher than 2.50 have always slid past the break point for me, or done nothing other than lope down the lane, never really getting into a roll. I'm afraid the Clutch would be in the same ball park and am afraid to try it based on that. I should add that it seems to react fairly early according the the BTM chart, so I'm confused as to what I should expect.

Is there any way I can gauge whether it will react soon enough for me, or can IU take the "Rg=2.56" to the bank and assume that with my 90 degree rotation style it'll be too far down the lane before reacting?

Lower your pin to assist the core in stabilizing.  From what I see and hear about the Clutch you can't go wrong.

Lefty, your pap is the same as mine 5 3/4" x 1up, and the Clutch
for me has a very strong midlane.  It doesnt skid past the breakpoint,
the cover is too strong for that, but than again it depends on how you
have it drilled/surface prep.  mines drilled 60 x 4 1/4" x 55.  nothing below
680 with it so far, and a 780 out of box with it, I would say its a superb piece
so far.  Cant go wrong with it.
