Orbit Xtreme vs Orbit Extreme

I see the new Orbit Extremes are posted on the site.

The Sky Blue (and I'm assuming the original Red/Purple/Bronze) both had the logo spelled "Xtreme."

The logo on the new balls look like they are spelling it as "Extreme," have a higher coverstock rating (F35 vs F30), and have tweaked the core to produce a higher RG.

I also see that the Sky Blue has a flare potential of 4, while the new balls are rated at 2-3.

Do you guys think there will be enough difference between them to warrant having both balls?

I will be doing a video to show the differences/similarities of these two balls...this weekend i finally got a chance to punch up my new blue and white one, and also a fresh sky blue...hopefully i will be filming thursday night!

The new cores have a lot higher RG: 2.56" vs 2.49". That's a big difference already. Then there's the RG Differential difference .035" for the old vs .024" for the new.

There's almost enough difference there for the new ones to be differently named and to be a step down, goto balls, from the older Orbit Xtremes.

Next question(s):
are the new ones pearl, solid or combo?
The Blue & Copper seems to be solid or solid/pearl combo.
The Blue and White seems to be all pearl.
But are they? why aren't they properly described?

Jeff... I thought we were supposed to buy a ball for it's reaction, not it's core/coverstock combo, or am I putting words into your mouth?

In this case, the cover + core gives a known reaction. When you change one major element/entity, while keeping the other static, I don't believe we're "stepping off too big a cliff" if we can assume a change in the reaction based on a known change in one part of the equation: higher RG and lower diff, in the same shape. I'd guess these pearls are now better suited to playing true dry patterns, not just lighter oil, like the original Orbit Extremes.

However, Eric did sort of pull the rug out from under us/me by saying ... OOops I just realized he said the "colors" were pearls. He did not say the coverstocks were pearlized. Hmmmm ...

I guess while they SEEM better designed for drier lanes, we will have to wait for testing to see how they react.

Seems to be the San Antonio release to combat the Big B Avalanches. Almost identical rg and diff numbers for the 15# stuff. Everyone (almost) is raving how well the Avalanches roll for them and can be used on much lighter consitions, especially the pearl ball. AMF really didn't have a ball there. The old Xtremes were too aggressive and then the only step down offered were the Angles, which was too big of a step. Something was needed just above the Angles and below the old Xtremes, and these fit the bill PERFECTLY!

I was thinking about adding a solid Avalanche to the arsenal as there really was not anything else available like it for what I wanted...the numbers are perfect and the reaction given was what I wanted...but I hated the fact I was going to purchase a Big B ball, and now I don't since the new Orbit Xtremes will provide me what i was looking for.

Perfect addition to go along with my Alert, solid Nighthawk, and Angle.
