VELOCITY
« on: August 31, 2004, 04:02:57 AM »
If I'm not mistaking .. the TITAN and VELOCITY were announced at the same time. I immediately became interested in the VELOCITY. It now seems that the TITAN has been made available (I've seen a review on one) and still NO TALK AT ALL about the VELOCITY .. I put an order in with my shop for one .. how does one find out when the ball will be released?

Sometimes you can get an idea of the ball's release date on these websites, when the manufacturer does not directly publish it AND you pro shop cannot learn when his/her distributor will get a ball:

BowlingBallReviews.com:
http://www.bowlingballreviews.com/search.asp?companyID=10

ABC Approved balls:
http://www.bowl.com/bin/pdf/approved_balllist.pdf

PBA Approved equipment:
http://www.pba.com/sponsors/default.asp?Type=1
AMF does not seem to be on the PBA current list of approved equipment. That is surprising to me.

There may be other such websites.

Got my velocity today finally. Delayed shippments i think, columbia was very back logged with there own orders and so was track, sadly to say AMF300 gets served last at the plant.

But i drilled the ball up tonight and layed it out 4 inches from axis and PRI( there name for the MB triangle) in between the strong and forward roll position.

wanted something more smooth than my titan that has a lot of recovery, and sometimes too much midlane roll. this is very smooth and has a fairly hard recovery on the backend. this ball is longer than the triumph original i think. so far very good carrying ball tho. I like the color especially.

I was sliding, 31 hitting 23 at arrows, and using 7 as break point ball was knocking out the corners well. this was on a second shift on brunswick anvil synthetics will fairly good quanity of carrydown, the patttern is using kegel's prodigy oil and the pattern length is 42 ft.

in comparision to the Titan, the titan has a lot more midlane roll, setting up earlier than the velocity. the titan is probably alot more over/under on the carrydown shot as well.

over all nice long smooth pearl ball with a lot of finish.

I wrote the review for my magazine for the ball and then afterwards too the ball back to the spinner, originally i intended to use the ball for carrydown that my center now seems to have after a few games. I hit the ball lightly with a green scotch brite pad, and it is a very clean move through the heads, and still not too much midlane roll, and good pop in the backends. I was using this ball on mediums with carrydown that was hard to get some balls to finish on. I tried an alter ego( solid particle with same finish) on the pattern and it burned up too fast. there was not enough oil in the heads and middles for that kind of reaction. I do have higher speed, about 28 to 30 kms, and a medium rev rate, ( approx 380) and for a slightly lower speed player and someone with a higher rev rate, this ball will be great for them to control the midlane and backends.

ball also hits very hard.
