Title: Waiting for a new AMF ball....
Post by: AMF300bowler on January 19, 2016, 11:07:01 AM
Here I sit waiting for AMF to announce new balls for 2016. In the meantime, all of my bowling buddies are looking at the new balls their company of choice has announced. My patience is growing thin with 900 Global's handling of AMF and Motiv is looking better everyday. I even talked to a Motiv staffer at my tournament this past weekend. People that know me had a heart attack.

Given history, you should see something in the next month and a half.

In my opinion there isnt a big difference between the technology each company uses right now. Why limit yourself if you really need/want another ball

Is there a hole in your arsenal that AMF or 900G can't fill?  Or are you just pining for the newest ball?

Brunswick has the most value. They're giving away stuff its so cheap.  I might be just to save $

+1 Billdozer. Pretty much Nirvana on down is less than $140/shipped anywhere online. Cant beat that value. Mastermind's are like $110 at Buddies.

Since Bowlmor now owns the AMF name, this delay makes me wonder if Bowlmor wants to continue to pay for having bowling balls made under the AMF name?
I'm guessing that they (Bowlmor) are the ones who are actually contracting with 900G to market, distribute, design and make AMF300 brand balls.

Unless things have changed Global pays a royalty to use the AMF name.

Charlest and Itsallaboutme,

Bowl-Mor has NOTHING to do with AMF bowling balls produced by 900 Global. 900 Global has a license from Qubica-AMF to make bowling balls under the AMF name. Qubica-AMF is the owner of the AMF name when it comes to bowling balls.

Unfortunately, there is no way that Qubica-AMF is getting any real return from 900 Global with such a limited release of AMF branded bowling balls. Qubica-AMF should consider moving the license to another company.

have you ever thought, maybe AMF only wants to release a limited amount of balls a year? We complain about most companies releasing too many and now this one only releasing 4...

I wish other companies would follow suit, it is way beyond ridiculous how many so called new balls come out each year. I must say I like Rotos schedule, twice a year. Gives me a chance to get excited about their new releases.

I do have one question. AMF bowler how come you didn't buy a Pure, Encore or Unreal? You want AMF to come out with new balls, yet they did last year but I don't see any of them in your signature. I really am also shocked that you are looking at Motiv to switch brands from AMF, yet you won't drill a 900 Global ball which is the maker of AMF equipment. That truly makes zero sense.

I do have a Pure. It's not in the bag at the moment. I don't need an Encore or an Unreal. The Encore has almost matching specs to the Pure Adrenaline which I already have so that is pointless. I don't even see the need for that ball. The Unreal would be a step backwards for me and my style.

I'm not going to reward 900 Global for killing the AMF brand. Plus, Motiv is a Michigan company which is where I live. Plus, I like their bowling balls and Motiv is a complete bowling ball company.

But you "reward" 900 Global every time you buy an AMF ball...

First the Encore numbers are not close to the Pure Adrenaline. 2.53 .055 Pure Adrenaline, Encore 2.54 .037. Pure Adrenaline is definitely stronger than the Encore and it is easy to notice. You say 900 Global killed the AMF brand when it didn't. AMF had 4 new balls come out last year. That is a decent bit considering the company has to pay licensing right just to use the name. Why would 900 Global make more balls with the 900 Global name on them? It is pure profit instead of maybe having to give 2% of sales back to AMF. I find it funny you complain about not having any AMF balls, but won't drill any balls from the company that makes them. I am glad that Motiv is a complete ball company for you. Good luck in the future.

First off...regardless of numbers..

You're a fool if you thing something with the src core will be the same as. a pure adrenaline.

I bet you they're different animals...give an unreal a shot.

I threw a bank and that thing was more different than anything I had in the bag period!

I can speak from experience. Freight Train core vs SRC... totally different beasts. You don't have an Unreal in the bag and you back AMF, you're missing out.

Big difference in the Pure Adrenaline vs the Encore. Encore is so easy to use and predictable. I thought I would see a dramatic change in direction in out of the Encore, but I was shocked to see a very smooth, solid type reaction. However, it doesn't mean that it has no recovery. It definitely allows for mistakes right. Pure Adrenaline has way more backend than the Encore. I was actually surprised at the response off of friction from the Adrenaline. It will easily compliment the Pure. Encore is a nice step down from the Dark Matter.

As far as 900 Global killing the AMF line, I just don't see it. If anything, they are the reason they are still around. If 900 Global didn't continue to make them after the EBI buyout, I would guess AMF would be dead by now. Besides, we are seeing tried and true cores and covers from the 900 Global line that are reused on the AMF side. How can this be a bad thing?

I think AMF is around for the long haul and eagerly anticipate the next release. I would love to see an Encore in a solid or hybrid!

The other thing I was thinking about...is...

I'd be willing to bet that despite storm boxes/labels

The amf releases are probably the azo balls being sold by bowlermart.

I could see them as AMF cheater, outbreak and legit.

But bowlermart paid for the balls to be their line.

Anywho...I used azo stuff before when they were storm, and they kicked arse. The label don't mean SH*t to me, its where they are made.

Anywho the cheater hybrid is coming...and it looks like a taboo...a beaut!

the Encore is a Bully. Pure line pulls from the Train line. Unreal has a modified Bank core. AMF balls have been borrowing shapes from 900 Global for years, but that's like saying you stole an idea from yourself. The cores are designed by the same people. Right now, I have more AMF in the active bag than 900 Global. Does it matter? No. If their trend continues, in 2 years the Dream weight block will be in an AMF ball. It's all the same.

I haven't decided. I haven't bowled 300 with Motiv yet, but I have with AMF. So, it temporarily still fits.

I like the was 900 has handled AMF, now in saying that sure their are some things they could do different and make better. The one thing I like the most is how they leave there lineup out a while and they have a slow release schedule.

I got a few AMF300 that I think I am going to finally drill and see what they can do!
