Title: White AMF XS
Post by: trash heap on November 29, 2003, 04:05:46 AM
I was wondering if anyone has comments on this ball. I bowled against a guy couple of weeks ago who was using one. He was bowling well. Ball had nice smooth reaction will plenty of kick on the backend. The ball kind of stands out going down lane.

I had one of these balls when they came out new. At the time I kept it polished, one because of the reaction it gave off of the dry and secondly it helped when it kept time to clean it lol. Anyway at the time it was a great medium to medium heavy oil ball for me as long as it had some dry to work off of. I would like to find another one NIB for lighter oil patterns today. Polished it had "almost" a skid snap reaction and in a dull state it had a nice arc.It rates as one of my all time favorites but that is just my opinion. Also most people rate it as one of the ugliest balls ever made but it made me some money in its day.

Thanks, cooksey

Somebody want one? I have one that's in A++++++ condition, one drill. Polished so it's clean. I just don't use it. 15#. If you're interested PM me and I'll send you a link to a photo of the ball. $35 includes shipping.

Trash Heap, The ball is what is known as  an AMF XS Bone. I have one drilled 4&3/4 X 4&3/4 and have always liked the reaction. It is a reactive resin about 320 grit if memory serves me well. They also made XS's in Black(much easier to keep clean)and red. It was so long ago when AMF came out with the XS that finding a new one is really hard. You can find them on e-bay sometimes but I would be leary of the ones that say only a few games. I find this hard to believe given how long ago the ball was released.

                               Good Luck,

You be leary if you want - mine has seen LESS than 5 games of usage. I drilled it up as a joke - to throw against another bowler who had one. It looks new except for the holes:
