Radar
« on: May 17, 2006, 07:11:04 AM »
Hey, there's very few (1 to be exact) reviews about the AMF
Radar.  Any thoughts about this ball???  Maybe compared to
Roto's Horizon????

My understanding of the Radar (haven't thrown it) by just looking at the numbers would be that it would be similar to the Action by Columbia, a stronger, somewhat early reactive with a decent backend.  The Horizon would be more similar to a flippier (and cheaper!) Inferno (same color scheme too...lol), one could feasibly make a good one-two punch out of the Radar and the Horizon

But that's just my two cents, remember I haven't thrown (or seen for that matter...) the Radar, this is just my speculation based purely on numbers.

Clint precisiontree is correct.  I have not throw the One but from what I have seen this ball is a pearl version of the one.  Min is drilled pin next to rf and cg kicked out about 1/2in.  4 1/2x4 and this ball gets through the heads great and kicks on the backends.  I use this ball on fresh med-heavy and med with carrydown when my Supreme Justice Pearl is skiddy.  Hope this helps.

Thats what I keep hearing too.

Supreme Justice pearl typical skid flippy pure reactive.
Radar one of the new more even pearls(softer ..? I don't know).

Sort of the go long arc real hard almost flip but not quite.

Sort of today's slicker lane conditions or synthetic lane conditions go long hook hard solution.

PS the pearl version of the solid Maximum Velocity!

Thanks for the responses.  Bowlers Journal's ball reviews gave
the Radar the most angular rating of any ball since they've
started reviewing balls in their new format.  I know it doesn't
have the overall hook as some of the other high end balls, but
was wondering if it really lived up to being a huge backend ball???

We've got a guy in our local house, older fellow with low (actually, nearly zero) revs and sub-average ball speed, who just got one of these. I've been watching the rest of his arsenal skid to the pindeck now for two years but his Radar makes him look like he's got quite a bit of hand. I don't have one of these balls yet but I'm definitely thinking about it after watching him.
