4 x 4 layout.  X hole 5 over 1 down.   PAP 5 over 1/2 up.  Box condition: good length, as with all AZO balls,  Strong arc, big hit.   Handled carrydown well with a little reduction in speed.

This is NEW Drastic Carbide Particle.  15#  3 oz. TW. 3" pin

Drilled 4 x 4 for a stroker with decent revs.  Gets long, even dulled with green scotchbrite.   Works pretty good in carrydown .   Too much ball for dry backends.   Shined up, it's a boomer on the backend.  Lost some carry because of strong move on backend.

Info about me is in the profile.

My Drastic Carbide is 16 pounds and has a 3-4" pin out distance.  It is drilled pin axis for flying backends and drier lanes.

This review will be relatively biased because I laid the ball out for a specific type of condition.

I typically bowl with this ball during my Thursday night league on synthetic lanes where the oil pattern is 40 feet flat no buff to the backs.  Sometimes they wall out the condition 10-10, but other times they don't.  I also can use this ball on wood lanes during my second or third shift league where the condition is a crown pattern with a slight hold area developing outside of 10.

During the synthetic league I usually play straight up 10, or 10 to 5 belly with the Drastic.  Once it makes it out of the oil the ball gently curves to the pocket.  It doesn't over react obviously when it encounters the dry, but can be a little too strong if they wall out the pattern.  Since it's a particle it tends to roll earlier than I'd like it to.  I can either move deeper a few boards and try to bounce if off the wall if I don't receive over under, or move up on the approach to shorten the lane and play the same line.

During the wood leagues I also play the same lines and use the same adjustments when I need to move.  I find that even at pin axis on wood the Drastic Carbide needs some head oil to get down the lane or it will roll at your feet.

Like it's brother the Spec-R it's a very hard hitting and good carrying ball.  I just recently put some polish on it to delay the roll a few feet for my wooden leagues, since I prefer to use my Scorcher on the synthetic lanes.

Here is a little information about my Drastic Carbide. It's a 14 pounder and it's drilled pin on top and CG Kicked out about an inch and half. As far as i know, this ball has been the most consistant rolling and hitting ball that I have ever owned.

Tonight, during my league night (last shift), which the lanes were pretty burned up, but I was still able to play the outside line. I was standing on the 32 board and throwing it from 18th to the 4th. The whole night, I was about the play the same line. Every shot was very consistant. I shot a 757 series of which the first game was a 300, 234, and 223. This is my 6th AZO Ball and What a great ball AZO makes!!!!! Great job AZO.. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.....

Decent ball although rarely used. More of a light/medium condition ball for me.  Probably should have drilled it agressive like my Answer.  Works well on shorter patterns or stripped backends.  Both balls are lengthy by nature and neither likes carrydown.  I get a better look from the Answer though.  I bought a NIB Defense Zone (old school) that I love.  It gives me everything I had hoped the Drastic would.

Went into my basement and brought this one back out after burying it there for a few years. Never did get the type of reaction i was looking for from it..until now that is!! After taking it through a series of sanding grits topping it off with 1000 grit abralon, this has become my money ball. Very smooth through the heads with a hard smooth arc (even through carry down) and a crushing hit and carry. Now this is what i expected to see when i purchased this years ago. Glad i held on to it, especially since i am the only one in my area who has one. Very durable cover too, no signs of a track even after numerous games of use. Looks just like my New Standard in appearance and rolls alot like it as well. Can't wait to try out some of the new AZO's..welcome back guys.
