1st question:
My teammate had some sliding problems last night. With the S6 sole with perforations/holes in the sole, he was sliding all over the place. With the S6 sole with no perforations/holes, he was sticking badly.

I do not use Dexters. He was using Dexter SST 8s.

Anyone know the difference between these. Should they be this different if at all???

2nd question:
He also says his wife, also an avid bowler and a user of Dexter shoes, regularly washes her soles in the clothes washing machine. I was kind of surprised to hear this.
a. Does this work?
b. Is this something she (and he, by default) should even be doing??

the solid sole slides less then the sole with the holes..lol.. thats a funny..lol..  I myself would not wash the sole ever because of fear that the soap would leave a residue in it or on it.. but you never know..

ordinarily, the solid buckskin slide sole will have more slide than the perforated model. the perforations themselves cause more drag and thus slightly less slide. make sure the solid sole is indeed the buckskin model not another material.

Most washing machines have a rinse cycle.

Besides. it's not a question of what you or I would do. YOu don't question what another man has to live with, with respect to his wife's sense of what's right. The lady in question likes things clean and neat. I'm just trying to help a friend sort out a problem.

Thanks, Greg. I'll pass that on.

If he has SST8's the #8 sole that is considered the standard sole may actually be a microfiber sole now.  Apparently Dexter felt they could control the coefficient of friction better with a man made material and switched from leather to a microfiber material.

The #7 is supposed to be the same material as the #8 and the holes in it are there to add drag.  It would be unfair to compare an old #7 to a new #8 if they aren't the same material...

it's entirely possible that dexter has changed the materials that some or all of these soles are made of. their website wasn't much help in this respect. this is one reason i gave up on their bowling shoes and went elsewhere.

hey charlest

sorry dude, I wasn't pooping on anyones wife or who likes to be clean or dirty.. your 2nd questions ask for an opinion and thats how I answered you.. whether or not a washing machine has a rinse cycle it might not get all the soap out of the sole.. also if you go to www.dextershoes.com it might help you understand the shoes a little more.. and as I stated the solid sole slides less then the sole with the holes..  sorry to ruin your day..

No offense taken. Had to spend Easter with mother-in-law, spawn of the devil. That tends to ruin my weekends, 3 days before and a week afterwards. Was already grumpy.
