Title: 3 ball Storm Thunder or get something else?
Post by: xrayjay on March 02, 2016, 04:07:12 PM
I'm in the market for a 3 ball roller. I decided to go with 3 ball roller instead of a 4 ball bag, and I'm looking at the storm thunder...or should I go global?

The bag looks good, but I don't like the colors.

Global looks good too...

Which roller is much more durable being upright?

I actually just bought the 3 ball Storm Thunder and it's worth the money. I couldn't be happier with the quality. It sits upright with no problems at all and the bigger wheels roll really good. It has a lot of storage space for shoes and other bowling accessories. I highly recommend it.

Does it have a compartment between the shoe and ball compartments?

Global has 4 wheels.

And KR has the color I like lol.

Thanks for the info.

I got a Brunswick one a little over a year ago and it doesn't really show any signs of wearing down. It's big enough to hold everything but not too bulky. I carry a single joey tote on top with my spare ball and then have a 2 ball tote when I go to tournaments and take a couple other balls

I have the 900 Global 3 ball bag which is over three years old.  I have not had a single problem with this bag.  All the zippers work like new.  The bag has more compartments than a lot of bags on the market and it comes with an accessory bag which can be mounted next to the handle or kept inside one of the compartment, which is what I do.  Most importantly it comes with 2 ball bearing wheels on each side, making it almost impossible to tip the bag over as your pulling it.
It is also a very good looking bag and I get a lot of inquiries about the bag because it's so attractive and catches peoples attention.

It has compartments all over the place! LOL. You can access them from the outside of the bag as well as when you open it up. I think you would be hard pressed to fill all the compartments up on this bag. It's the roomiest bag I've ever owned...and the most expensive too!!!

I had the elite platinum 3 ball roller which had a lot of pockets and a removable pouch. Great bag. I bought it for $111. That same bag without any upgrades in design, is $149.95.

I sold the bag three years ago to a bowler who couldn't afford a new bag, and at that time, I wasn't bowling.

The storm and global seem to hold their shape better than KR. but I could be wrong about the lane rover.

I have 3 of the Pyramid deluxe rollers for myself and daughters

IMO best looking bags at a reasonable price. lots of pockets, big wheels, and well put together. It has big metal zippers and plenty of padding around the balls

I had the Rolling Thunder and liked the storage space, only thing I did not like about the bag is the wheels are too close to the bag and over time from going down steps, the axel bends and the wheels rub the bag making it hard to push/pull. I would have to take axel out occasionally and straighten it back up and bag rolled fine again for awhile. Axel does not bend much, but enough to cause issues and a hassel. I switched to the Motiv 3 ball bag and do not have the wheel issue, but lack storage now.

I gave up on 3 ball bags, I have a nice 2 bag roller and 2 ball tote. Easier to lug around in the winter months, and get in and out of the car IMO.  Often if going to couples league I would just bring the 2 ball.

I like to use 3 ball totes by Vise.  Solid construction, lots of space with the added shoe bag, and lots and lots of colors.  You can even mix and match colors to customize your look to make your bag stand out from others.  I have absolutely no problems with the wheels, thread coming apart, or zippers and zipper pulls breaking.  No metal handle rails to bend.  The only thing is that it does not stand upright, but it's nice and compact so space is not an issue.  Fits easily in my car and even my daughter can carry her fully loaded 3 ball tote into the trunk (she's 16 and throws 14#).
