300 G/Rooz Cleats/Pucks?
« on: November 20, 2007, 09:32:11 PM »
How many actually use the cleats or pucks that come with the 300 G Tour Ultra's?  Or do you just use the different soles? Just wondering.

Scott I've never used the discs with the Roozs or 9G shoes. I use the gray felt sole with the orange leather heel about 90% of the time. I have used the discs several years ago with Linds XXXtras but could not get a consistant slide so I ditched them and began wearing Roozs, and since never had issues.

I do have 2 local customers who do use them, with good results.

i don't use them either. my usual setup is the deerskin sole and the flat hard rubber heel.

Same as Steve never used the cleat sole or cleats, I've used the grey felt sole and the red/orange heel 90% of the time. Use the same set up with the my Dexters grey felt sole and red heel 100% of the time. I even cut out extra cleats when I purchased the sole sheets so I must have dozens of the cleats laying around in a ziplock bag.

I use whatever came on the shoes when I bought them.  I think it's the deerskin sole with the flat heel.  I have never seen approaches sticky enough to need the cleat sole.  I had slide problems for a few weeks that I used the chrome sole with the felt heel.  And I've used the grooved heel for some very slick approaches.

our house is old, old wood with wood approaches that never get buffed or cleaned. So felt sole and leather heel is a must in order to slide.

Once I het a house with tacky synthetic approaches. I used three teflon cleats without the "template". Otherwise I couldn't slide at all.

Normal houses I bowl at have wood approaches so sliding usually not an issue.

Semi-Hijack...

If anyone that has this sole and cleats and would not mind getting rid of them, please contact me.  During the summer I need something between Dexter's #8 and #10 slide sole, and it just doesn't exist.

Thanks!

Thanks to all who responded.  FWIW, I have never had such a hard season on synthetic approaches this fall.

RocketNJ,

What did you mean by using the teflon cleats with out "template"?  I assume the sole with the holes cut in it?

Correct. I used the sole with holes to line up three teflon discs then removed the sole.

It was like trying to slide on tar! Damn synthetic approaches should be banned.

I use the different pucks that come with the shoes.  I can fine tune my slide this way.  I normally use different pucks.  I can get the exact amount of slide that I want by doing this.

Also if required, I can change one or two pucks to get the right combination.

I did the same thing with the Linds Exxxtras.
