Bowling shoe fit, specifically 3G Tour Ultra's
« on: May 30, 2011, 09:24:26 PM »
I'm on the cusp on buying a pair of 3G Tour Ultra's, but before I do, can anyone comment on the sizes?  How true are the sizes?  I'm hearing that they are wider than Dexters/Linds (and also more flexible uppers), so if I wear an EE Dexter, should I be ok, with M 3G's?  Some of the reviews in BB.com also indicate that they are about a half size smaller than "true fit", but than others refuted that, so what are people's experiences?

Thanks,

Jim

I have the older Dynorooz version of the 3G Tour Ultras and lengthwise they feel true to size for me or maybe a hair long, but that's negligible. Widthwise you may find them tight if you are an EE. I'm a D/Medium. The upper is very supple though. However, I haven't heard anything about those with wider feet using Tour Ultras either. I'd contact 900Global about them. They're pretty responsive.

Thanks for the reply.  I just emailed 900G and am awaiting response.  Will post here what they say.

Thanks,

Jim

I wear 11 1/2 4E in New Balance shoes.

A Dexter 11 1/2 2E fit me. didn't like the shoe.

In 3G Tour Ultra, an 11 1/2 medium fits just perfectly. I even add my own insert which is thicker and more supportive than the stock one. It still fits fine.

I ordered my Tour Ultras in my regular size. The fit was perfect.

I wear size 10 1/2 EEEE New Balance 623's. I've been wearing ABS/Dyno-Rooz/3G Tour Ultra's size 10 1/2 for years and they fit great.

How is the stability of these shoes? Do they give, or keep your foot stable in the shoe when you slide?

No problems with stability or balance. These shoes feature top-notch construction. Plus, they're made from kangaroo leather which is stronger and lighter than the competitions cowhide.

What size do you wear jaydee?  I wear a 13 or 14 depending on the shoe.  I did notice that on the Tour Ultra 13's it seemed that the toe box area was pretty crammed.. It was almost like they used a size 11 or 12 leather and just stitched it on the longer 13 platform.  I actually returned them and got the sport ultras.  Even though all of the 3G shoes are made on the same form, these seemed to have a lot more room in the toe area.. not sure why.

Also, for those that are interested.  When they do a production run of shoes, they make a few size 14 and maybe 15s.  So even though those sizes aren't listed on the site you can give 900 Global a call and see if they might have some in the larger size you need.

I wish I knew this before I got my size 13s.. I probably would have moved up to the  size 14

I have the older Dynothane D/T Tour Ultras; I also wear Dexter SST7SE's.  I wear size 9 street shoes and golf shoes and find that my Dexters run a little big even with the medium width.  In size 9, the Tour Ultras were a little small in my opinion so I went with 9 1/2's and they fit great.  If you are between sizes, I suggest that you go with the larger size.  Comfort and stability of the Tour Ultras are excellent.  The thing I like best about the Tour Ultras over the Dexter SST7SE's is the lower profile fit.  Your feet feel much closer to the floor than the Dexters, sort of like slippers or some of the golf shoes coming from Adidas such as the 360 series which beds the feet low into the sole.  The Kangaroo leather is strong and light, second to none; you can't go wrong with the Tour Ultras as long as you can get you fit.  I personally think that they are made for regular width feet and may not suit those with extra wide feet as it may require you to purchase a larger size to gain the additional width which may cause overall fit and stability to suffer.

I did a shoe inventory at my place the other day, and I've only got one pair of wide EE shoes (they are 10 1/2), but those fit really nice and I bought them at a shoe store after the manager measured my feet with a Brannock device.  That said, I've got 5 other pair of shoes that are all regular width and only two pair feel tight at the width, the rest are fine.  One of those pair is 10 1/12 M $20 Dexter universals that I currently wear.  The other tight fitting pair are size 11 New Balance running shoes.  I've got another pair of AirWalk's that are 10 M, and they fit fine, and Wolverine work boots that are 11 M, and Lands End dress shoes that are 11 M and they both fit good.

I did not hear anything back from 900Global when I emailed them about this a few days ago.  My 3G Tour Ultra's are coming in the mail today size 11 M, so we'll see what happens, but I'm optimistic that it will be fine based on feedback here.

I seem to remember going on their website and downloading the fitting template, following instructions, and getting my size right.  Love the shoes.  They are the Dynarooz Ultra 3Gs.

Don't believe in the Uzi, it just went off in my hand.  I, I believe in love.
