Title: ball cleaner recommendations?
Post by: zildjian on February 23, 2013, 02:29:18 PM
hey guys,
i just started bowling. bought my first ball a Hammer Arson Hybrid 14Lb with finger tip grip. started looking at the must haves for become a serious bowler. just purchased a single ball bowling bag, dexter shoes, microfiber towel, grip bag. and now i'm confused on which ball cleaner to get. ive been reading that you should wipe down the ball after each throw. also two types of cleaners. cleaner for during play, and also cleaner for before and after games. i saw someone recommend for during play the Remedy RX cleaner, and for a deeper cleaner for before and after games to use the Lane Master tournament cleaner.

what do you guys recommend and what to stay away from and how often to clean my new bowling ball? its a little confusing at this point.

thanks guys,
 -zildjian

I typically wipe the ball with microfiber before each shot.  At the end of bowling, I use a few sprays of remedy and wipe clean.  I think its a good basic maintenance routine.  Deep cleaners would supplement this and be done on a less frequent basis...  Maybe every 25 or 30 games.  I typically use the Track clean n dull gel.

I think what Strapper_Squared suggested is good.  You could also use the hot water method of getting the oil out about every 50 games in place of the deep cleaner.

I like to use motiv power gel clean (there are also power gel polish and power gel scuff) clean is the basic cleaner, approved for use anytime, relatively cheap, and does a great job. As far as use I use it wenever I feel the ball needs a cleaning or at least before my first league of the week( I bowl two leagues and usually practice at least once). It lasts a long time be us it's a gel, really cleans the surface well, and smells great( like oranges)

Save yourself some $ and use Simple Green, 409, or any other commercial degreaser/cleaner for daily cleaning and oil removal.

Valentino's RemedyRX is the best cleaner that I've used.  It does a great job at getting out lane scuffs and noticed it tended to deep clean more than the other sprays.

Valentino's Remedy is an excellent cleaner for daily use. It is approved for use during bowling, as well as before & after. Use it immediately after bowling before putting the ball in the bag to minimize oil absorption.

Spray twice, then go ahead and rub in.  Do this on 2 sides.

Hey Guys! thanks for fielding the question before I could get to it. In the package will be a set of instructions for best use.

Strapper_Squared listed the recommended method, consider wiping the track during bowling preventative maintenance.
