Has anyone used one of these things ?
I thought I'd give one of these a try before I become a slave to the tape. Any insight as to how effective this item is would be appreciated.

I tried it and didn't use it more than one frame. The seems on the sides of the thumb make it uncomfortable and it is also very slippery and hard to hold onto the ball.

Ehhhh...My thumb swells quite a bit, and I have a big callous that hangs up my release. I guess if it doesn't work for me I can go to the tape. Thanks for the reply.

I had the same problem for years. I finally made a pitch change to the left and it totally cured my problem. No swelling or hanging...

There was a lady a few years ago making these in Florida. I tried one as a test and could not get my thumb in the ball. My opinion is that if I need something like that there is something not right with my drill. It tended to snag what I could use of it. It sounded like a good idea if you bowl until your arm falls off. I'm sure like any other bowling products there is a lot of differences in quality. You might give it a try and might work for you. The pro shop we got it from said he could not get enough of them!

I had one and from my experience, it can only be use when your thumb shrink. It is also a bit slippery does not feel comfortable for me. Same situation with Long roller.

I personally did not like the thumb saver. I found it slippery on one hand, and seemed to like to stick to the ball on the other (at times I felt it pulling as it came out of the thumbhole). Not the solution.
Submit. Become a slave to the tape. And this may sound silly, but I think it's a good idea for someone to show you how to tape the ball, as it's kind of subtle and how you tape in terms of angle, depth, etc, can make a big difference. Buy a 250 pack, you won't regret it.

Yea don't invest in the thumb saver. It's the weirdest feeling...you put your thumb in the ball and it feels tight as hell, yet when you release the ball it falls off...yeeeea slave to the tape!

A friend of mine and visitor to this site loves his and uses it quite well!
Another idea is Pete Webers....take a golf glove....tackier! He uses that and cuts off the fingers.....nice release!
I may try it as I like the tacky feel of cabretta leather from many years on the old links!

That thing looks absurd. Of course I don't wear anything on my hand when I bowl (glove, protection tape, Robby Revs device, etc.) unless I want to shoot in the 150's. I learned to bowl without any of that junk and have become accustomed to throwing "bare back."

I tried it and the feeling really didnt bother me. But not very durable they only last a couple months before tearing. So i wound up slugging all my equipment and going back to tape.
