Flashy Footwear Covers and Bags
« on: August 30, 2003, 05:14:54 AM »
I am not sure how many of you have seen these but I placed an order for them and they are AWESOME!!!!

PBA member Larry Magidoff owns a company here in PA called Flashy Footwear Company and he specializes in shoe covers, slide protectors and shoe storage bags.

As the name of his company suggests, they are far from plain.... Flames, leopard print, cow print, spiderwebs, musical notes, american flags, blacklight butterfies...awesome patterns and the workmanship is outstanding.

I am stocking some of his line so if you are interested I can get some to you or you can order from him direct from his website: www.flashyfootwearco.com

If you contact Larry, please let him know you heard about him through me. He's a great guy to deal with that has an awesome product!!!

Thanks!!!

Well King lemme tell ya...I took a pair of the red/yellow and orange flames and put them on and went out to bowl last night...I had 5-6 people ask me where I got them...I said..."right there, in Doug's Pro Shop..$15...they are about the same price as the Robby's but these look 5,000% cooler."

They came in and saw the different patterns and they had me put 3 pair aside with deposits to pick up when they come in for league this week.

they look great, fit well and look ever so cool...the red ones with black spider webs are cool too. In fact they match a competition Toyota Supra that's running around. the car is red with a black spiderweb graphics job...

these things are gonna sell like hotcakes.

Cool, but jeebus FIFTEEN DOLLARS!?!?!

I'm in the wrong business. That bag is pure profit. Not only that, but that's a super simple sew job. I used to make pillows & bags like that all the time.

(Yes, that's right... a man who can sew. Thank god for home EC)

On a side note.... I would like everybody to take note.

THIS is what they call a POWER step!-----> http://flashyfootwearco.com/images/tn_pic2.jpg

Hi Doug,

Not to be a smart-ass, but you might want to tell Larry that it's Michael Haugen, Jr., not Micheal, and it's Danny Wiseman, not Danny Weisman.  Someone might get the idea that he doesn't really know these guys.

Why is it that every time someone on this site tries to help someone, all that happens is people blitch, moan, whine and complain about price?

I mean what's the deal? If you don't like the price, fine. Deal with it. I seriously doubt that you have any clue what these bags are, what material they are constructed of and of what the quality is. I have seen them and they are top notch. Do you realize the shoe bags have an inner liner? Do you realize the difficulty of using this type of fabric (flexible, stretchy and slippery) in terms of cutting, preparing and sewing? It's not like sewing cotton where it will stick to itself and not move as you sew.

Also, are they really that more expensive? I believe Dexter sells their shoe bags for about $12.50...hmm..that's only $2.50 less than these and these bags have much more variety in terms of colors and designs.

I just don;t see the problem....if you think you can make a better product, by all means do it. But if you just wanna complain, there is no need for it.

Wow, a little touchy???

I wasn't cutting on the product, I was simply saying that I could not see myself paying $15.00 + Shipping for a few pieces of fabric & a stitch job.

They look really neat & I wish the maker all the best.

I do wonder about the slide socks. Is he getting those from the frequest poster here who promotes his own slide socks? They look awfully similar & I remeber that the person here was working on getting a patent.

Yes Bj...I am a bit touchy because it seems that no matter what people on here try to do and how bad they try to help someone out, there is always someone there to cut them down. Look at the fiasco caused by many in the Sanctity of Marriage and Teacher posts....I mena c'mon people let's grow up a bit.

Everyone has a right to try and make a living as well as try something new. One of the problems with this country and population today is that people are always out to find fault and cut someone else down when a good idea was not theirs. I just don't get it...

As for the shipping charge, he normally ships Priority Mail (at least he did for me) so the minimum charge possible is $3.80 and an extra 85 cents for invoicing, packaging and labelling...I don't think that's too much to ask.

His slide shoe protectors are not the same as the slide socks advertised on here. These are his own unique design.

BTW...he will be updating his site with all of his new products, designs etc some time this week.

As I said, I am a distributor for him and I can get anything you see on his page.

OK I'm going to spend $19 for the shoe covers and I'll see if they are better then the $13 pair I have from the local Pro Shop. I figure that's about 50% more .. I'll report back and let you know if they were worth it!

ON EDIT: System was not very friendly using PAY PAL .. had to use CHECK method .. but order placed tonight!

It's not about whether they are better than the cheaper brands, it is about the style.  They probably no better than the cheap/plain pair, but they are cool.  Doug is right, someone finds a cool product, and all people see is the dollar sign.  No, I am NOT rich, but 5 or 6 dollars or so more; come on, most of the gripers spend more on beer and junk food, in a day.   Wah, wah, wah, and I did not even do any preaching in this post!

SAW MILL .. I have read quite a few of your comments and I think that you are a very honest guy .. but be reasonable .. 50% more for a style change for SHOE COVERS! .. I'm expecting to see more then that. A Bowling ball is pretty tough to see BETTER WORK done on the product .. but SHOE COVERS for 50% more I should see BETTER WORK done on the product. I WILL REPORT MY FINDINGS!
