Title: Genesis Products
Post by: St. Croix on February 16, 2016, 03:05:16 PM
One of Charlest's recent posts listed a link for Genesis. http://www.bowlgenesis.com
Their website shows several interesting products.

Genesis offers a couple of ball cleaners: a water based cleaner that is approved for use at any time and a solvent based cleaner (not exactly sure what that is) that comes in a spray container like the water based cleaner. The solvent is called "Evolution Maxx" and is for use after bowling only. Genesis also has a line of 5 "performance" tapes for the back of your thumb that run the gamut from thin / quick release to "extra thick" / slow release.

Jeff, you probably have used some of Genesis products. Can you and / or anyone else provide some feedback on them? Many Thanks.

I tried both Maxx and Intense.
I found Maxx about equivalent to Remedy, Knockout and Zapp-it in cleaning dirt from a ball. None remove oil as well as LMB Extreme, Hook-It or Clean n' Dull.

I found Intense about equivalent to isopropyl alcohol.

They're definitely becoming bigger on tour now. I've seen quite a few guys using tapes from them.

I live like right next-door to Genesis headquarter .I tried basically everything there. Main item I like is the kinesiology tape they have which is what all staffers are running in tour. You can use it for anything from your wrist to your shoulders knees etc.it might be a mental thing for me but it does help with my traps n wrist.

Not sure how true, but I'll find out. Genesis cleaners are just re-named/labeled from another company. But I'm not 100% sure. Just heard from someone close to Genesis. They put up shop just a few miles from my work and talked with them briefly several months ago.

They do have a nice product line.

I've used ,and still do sometimes for my quads, KT tape which is cheaper. 20 strips pre cut at Walmart $8-$9

I recently purchased a sample pack of their Excel fitting tape, but have not yet tried it to see how it compares to Vise hada patches.  I have heard great things about the Excel tape and look forward to trying it out.

I have tried their Kinesiology tape, it's not any better than KT Tape or Rock tape.  It's the only one that has their logo approved for PBA competition, so it's Genesis or regular old medical tape for the PBA Players.  I am interested in their excel thumb tapes though, so if you guys that have tried it could provide some feedback I would like to know your thoughts on it.

I tried the Genesis Excel fitting tape last night.  Used #2 and #3.  I will just say I am glad I purchased the sample pack as I doubt I will continue using it.  There was a point in the evening where I wanted to simply remove the tape, but the adhesive leaves so much residue on the thumb that it would have been impossible to try and bowl after removing it.  The Vise Hada patches never leave residue on my thumb.

The Genesis Excel textures are nice, you can't feel the tape when applied, and the pre-cut patches provide great coverage on the thumb, but the excessive sticky residue is a deal breaker.  I was finally able to scrub all of the adhesive off my thumb at home using the scrubby side of the sponge we use for the dishes.

I've used 3 of the 5 so far in the sample pack. My experience is opposite of the person above me. The Genesis tape left very little residue for me and even though I like the Hada patches I felt like I needed to keep it on once I used it as it left too much residue

WAY better than Vise Hada Patches, they wouldnt stick to my thumb, this one does all night league and practice sessions of 3 hours plus they have a good feel.

I purchased a sample pack of the thumb protection tapes also.  I've tried two or three of the different thicknesses/textures.  I like the variety from thin and smooth to thicker and more coarse.  Nice to have the options if your thumb size tends to vary from day to day.

I found the adhesiveness and amount of residue left to be comparable with Vise.  The most notable difference to me is the amount of stretchiness.  Vise Hada tapes are stretchable length wise and across the width.  The thinner Genesis tapes will stretch length wise but not across the width.  The thicker tapes don't stretch at all.
