Title: Going Shoe Shopping
Post by: NElefantis on October 08, 2007, 06:54:34 AM
Hey Everybody! This is the first visit I've made into the shoe section of the forum, but I'm in need of new shoes. I'm lost and don't know what I'm looking for. I've had the same shoes (Brunswick Stealth) for the last two years, which was the time I started bowling again. I'm looking considering investing in a shoe that has the adjustable soles and heels, because I bowl in several houses, each with a different approach (Some slippery, some dry).  If it helps, I'm a size 12 Mens, and looking for preferably a wide width shoe, if they even make wide bowling shoes.

I would hope all the houses that you bowl in have dry approaches.  lol

Just playing.

I would suggest Dexter SST 6, they are very comfortable.  I have since changed to Etonic Stabilites, but they don't have an interchangable heel.  Both are comfortable and wide.  Hope this helps.

900 Global Tour Ultras are the best you can buy.  I got mine from tekneek for a real good price.  You can also try Buddiesproshop.com.

The Tour Ultras are the way to go.  I have had several of the brands, but the Tour Ultras are more comfortable and more versatile than the others.

How about the 3G sports?  I just like the looks of the black and red shoe.

I agree 100%. Most comfortable bowling shoe I've ever worn. I will never wear a Dexter or Linds shoe again after wearing these babies.

3G's tour ultra's are the best bowling shoes money can buy. their quality and construction are top notch, their level of comfort is outstanding, and the options that are available for finding the perfect slide are almost limitless.

3G Tour Ultras = The Very Best -- they are the top tier, the champagne, oysters, and foie gras of the bowling shoe world.

That being said, if you wanted something a little less expensive, I would also suggest any of the other 3G shoes. Starting with the Sport Classic, you get synthetic leather uppers + two soles. Then there's the Sport Deluxe, which gives you synthetic leather uppers + two soles + two heels. Then you have the Sport Ultras, hand-tooled leather uppers + four soles + four heels. Then you have the Tour Elites, which have softer hand-tooled leather uppers + four soles + four heels. The Tour Ultras give you extra soft kangaroo leather + four soles + the cleated sole + 4 heels + cleats, etc. They also make the Shuffler model, in case you are one who likes to shuffle their feet while they bowl.

All in all, you just can't go wrong with 3G shoes. You know what you are getting, and you know why you are paying for it.

Hope this helps.

Also recommend the 3G/Dynorooz shoes.

I have the Sport Deluxe and couldn't be happier with the fit and quality.  Most comfortable shoe I've ever worn.

Haven't found a cheaper price on-line than  here (http://"http://www.bowlingballsales.com/productsbycategoryandmfg.asp?CatID=8&MfgID=41&CategoryName=Mens+Shoes&MfgName=3G"), although they have a limited selection.

I also second Shelley's recommendation of tekneek - outstanding person to deal with.

I currently wear the Etonic Stabilite Plus.  Very comfortable, hold my feet very well.  I have wideish feet and I have no problem with these shoes.

The  other featue I like is that they have a separate heel and forefoot which makes for much more comfortable wear.  My back used to get tired with the shoes that are flat across the bottom.

For wide width, go for the SST7 SE. I'm on it now, it more comfortable compared to the SST 5 which I was on due to wide width.

Been a while! Thanks for all your help. I decided to give 3G's a try. I went with the Sport Deluxe model because it's affordable, and introduces me to the world of adjustable heels and soles. They just came in about 4 hours before league, so I'm anxious to try them out.

I ordered the 3G Sport Elites from our distributor in the same size as my current ABS shoes and received a pair of Dynorooz instead...  first problem..  Second problem....  they are stiff as a board and very uncomfortable..  I had no wiggle room in a toes at all, and they were not even all the way to the end of the shoe...

So, after not being able to get the shoe that I want (our distributor said the 3G's won't be out for some time and I can just tape over the Dynorooz logos for regionals [bs]) and the etonics being pushed back to next summer, I guess I am going to have to try Dexters again.  I am going to go with the SST7s I guess...  hopefully they work out for me...

Contact Eric Thomas, he should be able to help you out.  If you needed 3G-labeled shoes, you should have ordered them directly from 900 Global.  They also provide a PBA discount (maybe your distributor did too, I don't know).

You might be able to exchange them directly from 900G, would be worth checking out.

I don't know why they'd feel very stiff.  Not to insult you, but there's no cardboard or form keepers inside them, eh?  My Tour Ultras were super soft out of the box.
