Linds and sizing
« on: February 24, 2005, 08:42:44 AM »
Does anybody have any experience with Linds and how they fit as far as sizing?  I wear a size 10 in Nike and Converse, size 9 1/2 in Reebok, and 9 or 9 1/2 in dress shoes.  My current bowling shoes are Dexter Alan's in size 9 1/2 (probably could've gotten away with 9's).

I don't have any place nearby that carries bowling shoes, so I don't really have the option of trying on a pair before I buy.

I have a pair of Classics that are size 11.5.  I wear 11.5 or 12 in all other shoes.  I agree with Just a Bowler about the width.  Linds do seem to run a bit narrower than most other shoes.

Agreed. My Linds were snug in the toes and I'm pretty true to size in shoes.

Thanks to everyone for the input!  I decided to get a pair of Linds PSS off of ebay - they come with 3 different soles and I wasn't sure I was ready to drop $90 on a pair of shoes, especially since I just bought 4 new balls!  They were a size 9, so I was worried that they might be too small and I'd be stuck with them or have to sell them at a loss, but they seem to fit just fine.  I say "seem" because I just got them and haven't had a chance to bowl with them yet.  I can see where they might be a little tight in the toes, but I'm hoping that they will loosen up just a tad, or that maybe I can just loosen the strings if they are too tight.  Plus, I tend to wear 2 pairs of socks, so if they are too tight I can just take a pair off and that should fix it.

qstick77, just for your info.....I was talking to one of the local pro shop owners last week and I started talking about the Linds shoes that he displayed on the wall. He said that he would stay away from Linds if you can because the plant has now moved to Mexico, the quality of the shoes being made down there are awful and he hasn't received a shipment in over three months. He also said to get Linds to cover the warranty is next to impossible because they have no idea on who should be contacted anymore.

I have a pair of Linds classics and I have used them for the last eight bowling seasons and I haven't had any problems except the normal wear on the soles. I only use them in one league a week as I use ABS shoes in my other league.

He did not try and persuade me to use another brand like Dexter or anything but he was just giving me fair warning about purchasing Linds.

Thanks!  I had read the same thing, after I placed my bid on the shoes.  I was slightly disappointed to get the shoes and see the "made in Mexico" label.  I guess I will give them a try and hope they work better than my Dexter Alan's.  For $50 I guess I shouldn't be too disappointed if they don't last forever.  I had read similar things about ABS and Dexter SST's not lasting more than 1-2 years, so I was a little hesitant about dropping $90+ on shoes.  I know that every company is going to have problems, and I only bowl in one league (right now anyways) and maybe 1 day of practice, so I'm hoping they don't fall apart right away!

On a side note - I decided to e-mail the sales dept to see where I can get replacement soles (the shoes come with 3 different soles) and I'm halfway expecting to get a response of "don't worry, the shoes will fall apart before the soles wear out!"  Of course, I haven't received any response yet!
