Question for the 3G shoes owners
« on: November 11, 2013, 10:30:03 AM »
Hi all, after wearing a pair of SST8's for 4 or 5 years I need to buy a new pair of shoes. Like most everyone else my SST8's have split the sole AND are now coming unstitched at the heel. Dexter did replace them once due to the sole split, but now its time to move on.

I have not been perfectly happy with my SST8 performance wise either. The slide soles are all the same size no matter the size of the shoe. The larger sizes have a bigger gap here...  http://imgur.com/AWDVy6D  . Combine that with a large size usually means large guy and I often find the rubber of the shoe is sticking on the approach.

Finally my question: Is this gap just as large on the 3G tour ultras? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

THanks, Randy

I'm not too sure on the gap. I wear 11's and I've never had a problem, so I dont think I could help you out there.

My 3Gs have been great, they're very comfortable to wear. My Dad has a pair of SST5's and they arent as comfortable. He even used mine recently and was surprised at how well they felt. You cant really go wrong with a pair of 3Gs.

I went backwards in the Series and love the shoes completely more than Sst 8 and 3G shoes give the SST 6 a look they are still available super comfortable not as bulky as the SST8 great platform and again real comfortable. Google the Dexter SST6

Started with 6's waaay back in the day. But I'm afraid I'm 60 pounds heavier and think I might have the same issues with them. I'll admit it was nice to wear out a pair instead of having the soles crack and stiches come undone.

I had the same issue with the gap between the slide and the heel.  I switched to the 3g tour ultras and haven't had an issue since.  The gap between the slide and heel on the 3g's is much smaller.

Thanks all, appreciate the feedback. Just knowing the gap is smaller on the Ultra's seals the deal.
