I posted a topic last week where I broke my shoe, likely due to toe drag. I certainly considered buying either Dexter Tank or SST 8, but my friend bought a pair of Pyramid shoes and they looked pretty good. So, I decided to try another pair of Pyramid shoes called the Ra.

For $50 I expect they won't last forever, but I'm going to try the Velcro modification to see if that works. In the near future I will ask Santa for some Dexter shoes.
I took close ups of a few quality spots on the shoe that I thought should be noted, but for $50 I think I can live with these cosmetic flaws.

I think I would have done the same thing! Those shoes look pretty good for $50. Good luck with them ..

Tried the Ra shoe for first time last night. I stumbled and fell a couple of times on the first few frames. I got them to slide pretty well by about the 8th frame of my first game. I bowled pretty well after that. I really need to try the Velcro on my drag toe because it gripped a good deal more than my old shoes and I felt like I was doing the splits a few times. I'm excited to make that toe modification and get back to throw some more balls.

Very easy to turn into adjustable heel and soul shoes if you desired.

(Or anyone else with first-hand experience with these shoes.)
I realize this is an old post, but that may be a good thing. I'm looking in to getting some new shoes and am checking out the Pyramid Ra's and came across this post. All of the reviews I've read on the various sites are pretty good (most are 4 and 5 stars) so I was just wondering how you like(d) them and how well did they hold up?

Also the tpux pyramid shoes "HPX" are $92 which is probably an awesome bet too. I like the all black version myself, versus the Brunswick and Hammer variations!

The HPX black are cool shoes. At $92, I'm tempted to pick up a second pair. Especially with the combined deals they offer on soles/heels.

I saw that too and that's why I'm kind of leaning that way. And I guess, for under $40, if they only last a year or two (but hopefully longer), it's still a good deal.
