3G Ultras or Sports?
« on: February 14, 2010, 01:37:33 PM »
I have to pick up a pair to replace my now 4 year old Deluxes and am stuck between these two. I bowl league and a few tournaments. Any suggestions?

the 3g tour ultra's are the best bowling shoes money can buy. very comfortable, top-notch construction, and great customer service. plus with up to six different slide soles and six different heels you'll be able to adjust your slide to any approach. i've had three pairs and wouldn't even think of buying another brand.

I love my Tour Ultras.  Got 'em back when they were still Dynorooz and they're holding up very well.  I will never own another pair of shoes.

If money is a concern, the Sport Ultras are great.  Otherwise, it's a $35 difference between the Tours and the Sports at Buddies and I think the $35 is well worth it.

I agree with the previous comments. I originally purchased a pair of the black Tour Ultras through a PBA offer when they first came out under the ABS name. I liked them so well that I bought another pair of silver and black ones. These shoes felt great when I first put them on and still do today. I use mine on a daily basis and I have more than got my monies worth. The Tour Ultras hands down are the best shoes on the market.

Well I found a pair in my size of the Sport Ultras for about $85 shipped. So I guess the real question is that makes the difference $50 and yeah money is kindof an issue. I understand that the Tours come with 4 soles included and a bag for each shoe, do any of you know from experience what the Spots come with? Anybody used or worn both?

I've had the same pair of 3G Tour Ultra's since they first came out, and they still look brand new.

Now if they only smelled brand new.

Thank you all for the help, I went with the Sports, for what I paid I could've gotten two pairs of the Tours. So I figured for that cost I can gamble on the Sports, they are still an upgrade from my Deluxes.

That doesn't sound quite right, but ok.  I use the cream sole nearly all of the time with my Tour Ultras.  That was the one that was on the shoes when I got 'em.  It's a middle-of-the-road sole.

Moto: I had the same problem when I first got mine.  The bag that they come in zips up tight and so if I take them off and put them up right away, they do tend to smell.  To stop that, I take them off and sprinkle some baby powder in them, then leave them out for about 10-15 minutes while I pack up the rest of my stuff and hang out with my buddies for a bit.  I got a little travel-sized bottle of baby powder and I keep it in the bag.

I'm torn between the two as well. Also, I'd like to know how the fit is compared to street shoes. Same?

I wear size 10 athletic shoes (Nike) and I also wear a size 10 Tour Ultra.  Fits perfectly.
