Title: Shoes - 3G / Storm/ Team Brunswick
Post by: NY Mike on October 26, 2017, 10:41:57 AM
Go to league last night and slip on my 3G Sport Ultras ( 5 years old), shoes feel a little loose fitting.  Take a look and my slide shoe the uppers have separated from the soles from my toes to my heal almost looks like someone took a knife to them. I have experienced some issues with these 3G's rubber soles and toe cap coming loose. Enjoyed my old ABS' for years.

Obviously need new shoes,  starting doing some home work, unsure after all the years (12 yrs) of comfort I will be running back to 3G.  Looking at the Team Brunswick with interchangeable soles/heels and the Storm SP 800's ( Buddies' running a special for $69).   Any thoughts and opinions on any and all of these shoes.

Thanks,

Me and a good friend had the same issue with the Sport Ultra. If you go 3G you have to get the Tour Ultra.

I've heard good things about the new Team Brunswick shoes. I personally went with the SST 8 Pro and i couldn't be happier. I like the wider toe box Dexter has

I wear those storm sp800 shoes.  I like them a lot.  No interchangeable sole on the push off foot (only slide is interchangeable: heal and sole), but that has zero effect on me.  It pushes off just fine.  Very comfortable.  Seem pretty durable so far.  I've been wearing them since April.  Previously wore the Brunswick TPU.  They were fine.  My son wears the TPU and the toe is getting to be worn off.

I used the ABS version of the Tour Ultra for 15 years.  Had to get a new pair of shoes this past year and went with the Brunswick TPU-X since they were going on clearance.

So far, the comfort is there, though I did replace the inner sole with a firm orthotic type I used in a pair of work boots.  The toe area is wearing faster than I would like, but still has some time left in them.

If you are a toe dragger, I would dodge the older TPU-X.  I realize you didn't ask about those, but you may still find them.  But if they are super cheap, then maybe it is worth it to you.

I don't see many using the Storm shoes or the new Brunswick shoes.  Not sure how the Hammer shoes are doing either.  I believe the newer Pyramid shoes are the TPU-X or very similar.

I feel there is a reason Dexter is by far the biggest player in the market.

The Team Brunswick shoes have little details in them which lead me to believe that they're made by the same folks who make the 3G shoes, but they're just not advertised as such. Either that or they copied those details quite well. In any case, those shoes are pretty nice and you get a lot in the bag for the money, including real leather slide soles.

Dexter imo have the most durable show on the market (comfort is another issue not the best).

My Team Brunswick shoes din't knock me over at first, but they break in very nicely and now I love them.  They are quite comfortable and look like they should hold up well.  The added feature of 5 soles and 4 heels saves a ton of money.

I still have a pair of Linds classics as a back up.  A friend told me they have quit making their good shoes and are focusing on only rental shoes.  KR bought them a while back and I'm sure sales have been flat in recent years because everyone wants the changeable soles.  If you want replacements you may want to get them soon...

Do DEXTER's run true to size.  Normally wear 10-1/2 regular, was looking to order through Buddies.

No, they usually run a half size too small, also there has been issues with the wide width versions of their shoe sizes as well....

I recommend paying a little extra for the shoe size replacement program.

I wear a 10 1/2 in most shoes and have had no issues with a 10 1/2 for Dexter/Storm shoes.
