Shoes? How important are they?

I currently own a pair of dexter marshals. Great beginner shoes. I honestly only got them b/c I thought they looked cool (this was when I first started). So I have had them for a good 2 years. Now, the insides of them are ripping out. No big deal, doesn't seem to bother me much.  The slides, well.... microfibers aren't that great in the first place i take it. What I am getting at here is... Is it worth the money to invest in a good pair of shoes such as tour ultras or sst 6's or what have you?  If so, then why? Will they make a difference in my game? I have heard more stability being a plus...  Also, I am not starting anything over prices... that is not the issue.  Thanks in advance for input.

Shoes are MOST DEFFINITLY worth it. Think about it, when you bowl, no matter what condition or what house, your always on your feet. I have a pair of DynoThane ABS Tour Ultras, very nice and comfy to!

I had orginally planned on buying tour ultras last week or so for my bday. But, I got to thinking that next next season their price would probably drop considerably. So I figure might as well wait since nothing big is coming up in my book. But, I eventually do plan on  buying a better pair of shoes. I put on a friends shoe that has a break.  Quite different from the norm for me. Should be interesting.

shoes are just as important to bowling as balls, form, consistancy, technicality, etc.  they dont' have to be expensive or cool looking, but, you should have rechangable heels and soles, and be comfortable to you.  i think that being comfortable is 50% of the game.  your shoes should fit your style of bowling and feel good on your feet.  you don't HAVE to have interchangable heels and soles but it does help when the approaches change.

Yes, shoes are very important so buy the best that you can afford.  Remember, unlike bowling balls, you will be using the shoes for many years.  

I am willing to spend whatever I would spend on a new ball on a good pair of shoes.

Good shoes are very important. Bad shoes can lead to knee problems.  Having arch support helps with a lot of problems.  Also if you do not have the correct sliding surface pressure is also placed on the knee.  I have a pair of Lind's Classic with Dr. Scholls sport insoles.  They are fairly comfortable and wear well.  As for sliding surface the SLSM Designs Bowler's Slide Sock cures everything.  I'm not messing around with soles or disk.  Never had heal problems.  I can go just about anywhere wood , synthetic and not worry about having the proper slide.  When the Etonics become more available I'll be looking at a pair of them just for a little more comfort.

I use the older style SST Vs. Love 'em. I'd always been a Linds fan, until I tried on a pair of SSTs. I was hooked.

If I had to either bowl in cheap shoes (read non-handed) or not bowl, I'd not bowl. I need that slide sole ONLY on one foot.

Shoes are everything. No consistent slide = no consistent release.

I had several Dexter SST's (4 and 5's) But apart from them being in pieces before you can say Dexter, I never had the consistent slide i wanted.

Since i wear Linds XXXtra's, my game got a lot more consistent. Sure they aren't as comfortable, but they are a lot more durable.

shoes a a great thing to have, if your looking for shoe's that you want to buried with when you die, get a kind with interchangable soles, like SST 5's or 6's.  they also make you look 'more professional'
