Title: SST replacement heels. WTF?
Post by: Curly on December 10, 2007, 01:01:58 AM
What's the deal with the replacement heels? Any that we've ordered have been oversized. Doesnt matter the SST model. Cutting a slide pad to fit is no big issue but.......a heel? The shoes DO come with heels that are properly sized. Anyone have similar problems, or could our distributor be jerking us around. Thanks.

Nope...that's the way the replacement heels come.  It's a royal PITA if you ask me.

LOL! That's crazy. Yes, a 'PITA' for sure. Thanks.

I have noticed the medium heels are often big!

I almost believe for certain shoe sizes...(I believe 10 and below(not certain of this)....the small heel size must be ordered instead of medium.

Thanks Lucky. We have tried that.
Still, I find it annoying. I would suppose that not all shops, or customers, have the means to cut these properly. And...for the price one pays, imo, they should be good to go. One of our customers said "I paid a ton of money for the shoes and X amount of dollars for this replacement heel and now I've got to find and then pay somebody else to cut it to size?!"
Any company reps here who could explain this b.s.?

They would be even higher if they had to make them in sizes. It is not that hard to cut them down with a sharp knife.Just put your old one on top of the new one, draw where you need to cut,and cut them.No big deal!!

I bought a Tri-Dex heel for my SST 6 LX's and just left it over-sized... it's only an 1/8" too wide on both sides.  Not that big of a deal, IMHO.

Cut cost from a manufacturing standpoint. When you only have a few forms to pour the rubber into its much more efficient than by size and number. Signifigantly cuts floor space and inventory.  I believe this change came about when Dexter moved operations overseas. I prefer a band saw or scroll saw. What size, I have some smaller size heels available?

as someone who only wore dexters from 1995 to 2006 i started noticing that the replacement heels were often too large for my shoe. my calls and e-mails to customer service went unanswered. i could not find the right slide no matter what combination of heels and soles i tried. i jumped off the dexter ship and tried dynorooz. what a difference. better slide, great quality, and great customer service. dynorooz has evolved into 3G but their tour ultras are as good if not better than the dynorooz models. their heels come in three(3) sizes to accommodate different sized shoes.....m( size 6-8 ), ll( 8.5-11 ), and lll( 11.5-13 ). this is a much better solution in my opinion

Curly,

I don't understand your reply.

It doesn't work(I assure you the small heels fit perfectly on certain sizes).
As do the mediums on some larger sizes.

Please explain...

Really makes you wonder why the company just doesn't make the right size in the first place.

I don't know if the distributor has access to all the heel sizes from Dexter or not, but a quick call to Dexter could answer that question.  That way you'd know whether or not to try a different distributor... or at least have then try to get another size from Dexter.
