What stops better than leather?

Recently, it seems my local house puts Crisco on the approach, and I'm not a huge fan of sliding. Usually because I end up sitting on the approach with a concussion. Question is, what pad would stop better than leather; or, are there ways of combating the slick approach? I don't wish to slow down with my release, because that drastically changes the way I'm accustomed to my delivery, but if that's the only option, I can surely give it a try.

Rubber. I use the dexter #2 brown sole and the older rubber cleat heel turned backwards with the cleats facing the direcection I slide. It also helps to lightly sand the rubber heel with sand paper to soften it up a little.

I've seen a lot of people ad a second heel between the sole and back heel to have less slide as well. (on dexters)

Where I bowl they wax the approaches before we bowl league.

If you plant and whip try a pair of tennis shoes. As long as they are not wore outside they should be ok.

Thanks for the tips! I believe I still have the cleat heel laying around somewhere, so I'll definitely give it a try.

I have tried wearing tennis shoes, but I need to buy a pair with a tan bottom. The first time I tried I left a black scuff mark on the approach..

With the cleat or any other dexter heel a little sanding seems to really help. For some reason its like they are polished from the factory, or just a hard rubber.

Also along the lines of tennis shoes I just saw some dexter traction soles that are interchangeable for what would normally be you non slide foot to help get more traction. You could use those or modify them and only parts of it on your slide foot to help plant.
