Title: Tpu x, are they worth it?
Post by: Stormroto22 on October 24, 2015, 10:56:28 AM
I bought a pair of storm shoes last year and there's nothing wrong with them other than even though after this long they are still stiff as hell and are uncomfortable and constantly make my feet hurt. Just wondering if it's worth the 160 for the tpu's. Has anyone experienced any issues with them? From what I've read they are super comfortable.

In this section go back to last month (Sept.) and read all the comments regarding the TPU-X's, SST8's, and SST9's and you can come to your own conclusion regarding the worth of any of these shoes.

Definitely will not need much time to break these in as they are soft from the get-go.

If comfort is your need, the tpu is your answer!

What's the downfall to the tpu?

The TPU is ultra comfort, the most comfort I have gotten from any bowling shoe and more comfort than my street shoes! I hate to take them off, they suck your foot in when you put them on and feel great the whole time.

They are the most comfortable bowling shoe that I have ever worn, and they take little to no break in time.

HAS ANY TOE DRAGGER TRIED THE NEW VERSION? IS IT BETTER? ALSO I USE THE "CLEATED" SOLE WITH MY 3G'S, ANYONE KNOW IF THIS WILL FIT THE TPU?

Mine are coming from buddies as we speak. They had a great special for Black Friday. I will definitely post when I get to give them a try.

I also ordered a pair from Buddie's Black Friday sale.
I have the original Blue/Black and the comfort is outstanding.  I am a slight toe dragger and I did have a small problem as a result, but my Velcro trick solved the problem on the right toe.
I am curious see if the new ones (White/black) I ordered have eliminated the toe drag problem.  If not, I'll still love them because there so darn comfortable.

Received my new white/black TPU-X's on Friday.  Sad to report that after ten games the right front toe shield started to wear down exposing the front lip of the rubber pad which  is attached to the sole of the shoe.  This is exactly what happened to my original blue/black pair that I purchased a year ago.
So it appears that Brunswick (I think the actual manufacturer is KR Strikeforce) has not improved the white/black or red/black shoe design, even though it has been reported that they have.
I put on a piece of the soft side Velcro strip like I did on the originals.....problem solved.  But, really I shouldn't have to do this and I was really banking on the new shoes being re-designed & fixed.
On the positive side, the white/black shoes looks awesome and the shoes are still like wearing slippers, but with great support.  Will use the blue/black for practice and the white/black for league & tournaments.

I got mine.  I am not a toe dragger and after 10 games I am a happy customer.  They took one game to break in and were comfortable from the get go!

Bowlaholic- You're a slight toe dragger and you've already experienced noticeable wear after 10 games???  I would think even someone very hard on shoes should be able to use them for much longer before such a result.

Thanks for the frank observations.

I bowl with a few guys who use TPU-X's. To a person they rave about the comfort of the shoes. I recently tried on a pair of Stealth's, which are essentially a lower end version of the TPU-X, and was surprised how comfortable they are out of the box. I can get them at an incredible price, so they're definitely worth the look.

From what I've seen of the TPU-X, and in examining the Stealth, I'm not convinced the shoes can hold up to more extreme use.

I bowl a lot (20-30 games a week) and I put a lot of pressure on my pivot toe. I need a shoe that hold up to serious use, so in the end, I'm sticking with my Dexter 9s. They're more industrial strength, even if they didn't have the initial slipper like comfort out of the box.
