Title: Trying a new brand of shoes!
Post by: Jimmy Fields on July 09, 2013, 10:58:20 AM
After wearing Dexter's ever since the first year of sst 4's in 1995 and now using sst 6 lx. i'm going to try 3g sport ultra's. I've never really liked Dexter's but i liked the interchangable soles and heels. If Lind's would have ever come out with something similar i would have stayed with them. So let's give this new brand a try any opinions from people who've tried both brands is greatly appreciated. Thanks Jimmy

I prefer 3G over Dexter, but that's just me! I've had Dexter and they are comfortable, but I couldn't get them to last very long! I like the slide sole setup on the 3G better than Dexter! I've had the Dexter soles come off and I decided to go with 3G! I liked the Etonic dress, but they don't have interchangeable heels and they are out of the bowling shoe business now! Just my $.02, Bruce

I just bought the 3G tour ultras about 6 months ago. I now wonder why I waited so long. So far these are the best shoes I have ever worn. Extremely comfortable, and no issues as of yet and I bowl 3 or more times a week. You will be satisfied.

Linds does have interchangeable soles/heels.  My buddy just bought a pair.  But I'm sure you'll be happy with your Tour Ultras.

I have had the predecessor to the 3G Tour Ultras for a while now, even before the Dyno-Thane days.  Still going strong and highly recommended!!

Just ordered the dexter sst8s. I ordered them a half size smaller because they tend to run a little big, any truth to this?

Dexter & Storm (which are just Dexters with storms name printed on them) are the only PBA approved shoe, so keep that in mind.

Sticking with Dexters--do not have problems with them.  Fits my need perfect.  Not everyone have same feet and can agree with others.  However, if you have find the shoes that fits your feet and needs to be successful on the lanes after trying on a few shoes, stick with the one benefits you best.   ;D

Best shoe to me is 3G. I have had them for quite sometime and finally wore them out. I have had to go back to dexter as 3g doesn't get any size 14's anymore. This has been a let down as these dexter's do not feel anywhere near the comfort I had with my ABS/3G's

My Tour Ultras go back when they were marketed by Dynothane and called Dyna-roos.  Love them.  Very comfortable and are wearing like iron.

Both the SST8's and Tour Ultras have pros and cons. The fact is the two different shoes have a very different feel. It will be individual for everyone. The SST8's provide a more stable footprint. The Tour Ultras wear like slippers. There is no right or wrong with either. It's comes down to what feels better on your feet.

There is no substitute to understanding the needs of your feet (arches, pressure points, etc), trying both on, and then making a decision on which shoe best fits your game. There is no other logical way to decide.

I have worn both and both were good.  Currently using a 3G sole on my SST's.

This is the best, most honest review...this is Exactly what I experienced.  I wouldnt mind something in between to be 100% honest here.

Oh,  what would make me happiest is to have a new pair of SST5s size 9Extra Wide left handed.

I have switched to a tight medium width pair lately and my bowling Is on a strong upward move.

Versus the toe cap on the Dexter SST8s and the 3Gs I love that soft toe piece on the SST5s that allows me to put down that soft toe on the trail foot and drag helping me get the arm in sync with the slide foot nearly every time!

The toe cap on the other hand goes skid bounce skid bounce I really don't like it!

The soft toe piece wearing down on the trail foot.   I don't care just sell replacements....my local shoe guy can replace easy!  He is used to seeing me all the time trying to create my own SST5s anyway....he is sick of seeing me!

Did the person with knowledge of a line of wides from Dexter know if that includes lefties or are we going to continue to be discriminated against!  Bwaaaaaaaahhhh!

Regards,

Luckylefty
PS I get the business reasons!
