Author Topic: Which do you like better? ABS or Dexter (Read 11639 times)

I am thinking about buying a nice pair of shoes from buddies in the future. Thing is I don't know if I should go with the dexter sst 6's, sst 5's, or the tour deluxe from ABS. They all look good and come with all the interchangable slides and heels. From experience, which do you guys think are worth getting?

PS: Anyone know if ABS gives you the chart of how much each pad slides? I know dexter tells you how much each pad slides compared to the next. Does ABS?

Thanks much from everyone. Looks like the ABS run a pretty good reputation. I don't think I can afford the tour ultras so I'll probably go with the tour deluxe, and on buddies there is also a sport ultra. I might go with them. They look nice as well. Anyway, thanks again.

I have had my ABS's for almost 2 years now and I absolutely love them. Very comfortable, very durable and good looking. Need to get more sliding soles When I am starting to slide with the #6 sole too much....time for new ones.

One more thing everybody, which pair does everyone like the best? I could save up 30 more bucks for the Tour Ultras (I'm buying from buddies so if you're wondering where i'm getting prices look there) but the Sport Ultra also look nice. Also I've read a few reviews that the Tour Deluxe were also nice. Heck even the 70$ sports don't look too bad, just don't come with all the pads so I'll stay away. Which do you guys recommend? Tour Ultras, Sport Ultras, or Tour Deluxe?

PS: What's up with those yellow shoes laces on the tour deluxe

The above was probably the most complete analysis of the difference between the two brands. I would just phrase it differently as follows:

1) The distinguishing feature of ABS is their replaceable toe cap. If you drag your toe and wear this part of the shoe out quickly, ABS should be your top choice.

2) Dexter still has superior heel and toe choices. If you're sensitive to different types of approaches and need the most flexible combinations available, you should consider Dexter as you're top choice.

Comfort should not be an issue. If you can't find comfort in SST5's or SST6's, you have orthopedic issues.

Just get the tour deluxes. The ultras don't come with any real extra features (maybe some more cleats or something). I think the only difference is the material they are made out of. The deluxes are the best bang for the buck.

The only problem I have with my abs' is that the heels and soles wear out way too fast. I have only had mine since the summer and have already worn out the radial heel and most of the soles that came with mine. I do drag my toe, which is the reason i got them, but i don't know if it was worth it because i'll probably have to buy new soles soon.

Sounds like I'll probably go with the tour deluxes. They seem to be the best bang for the buck. Don't look to bad either (Online anyway). Unless I just so happen to stumble over some money of at least 30 bucks...I mean the deluxes look just as good as the ultras so, what the heck? If anybody has an opinion about w/e let me know. I might give the Dexters another look over though.....I don't really drag my toe that much and ppl say the pads are better on the dexters so we'll see. Let me know what you think.

ABS all the way...amasing shoe for the money, durable and last a long time. I like the replaceable toe cap because i tend to drag, and on my sst 6's. the fronts were messed up. So invest in a good pair of these ABS shoes. I mean they are made of Kangaroo leaher, can it get any better?

Ok Ok. You guys got me convinced ABS is the way to go but...now I got to decide should I go the whole nine yards and buy the Tour Ultras or get the Tour Deluxes? They look just as solid. Thanks again for all you inputs everyone. Gotta love BR.

In case you missed C4life's post before yours, the difference is comfort. SO, if comfort is a big thing to you, spend the 30 extra and get the ultras. But if you think that you'll be fine, save your cash and get the deluxes.
