Which do you like better? ABS or Dexter

I am thinking about buying a nice pair of shoes from buddies in the future. Thing is I don't know if I should go with the dexter sst 6's, sst 5's, or the tour deluxe from ABS. They all look good and come with all the interchangable slides and heels. From experience, which do you guys think are worth getting?





PS: Anyone know if ABS gives you the chart of how much each pad slides? I know dexter tells you how much each pad slides compared to the next. Does ABS?

I have the ABS Tour Ultras.  They are definitely worth the extra money.  I have had mine almost two years and they still look brand new.  Also they are extremely comfortable.

Lets see....if you bowl once a week...
50 times a year... and you only get 2 years out of them...
that extra 30 bucks costs you 30 cents every time you lace up.
the more you bowl and the longer they last, the less it costs.
Seems like a no-brainer to me.
I have the Ultras.

Save the money on the Ultras...The deluxe are the same exact shoe as the Ultra except for the color and amount of cleats you get with them! They are both made of Kangaroo Leather and offer the same accesories. Same shoe same leather same comfort but $40 bucks more! Go with the Deluxe!

The only thing the "same" about them is the kangaroo leather.
(and I'm not quite certain that the grade of the leather is the same)
Go on the Dyna-thane web page and take a GOOD look at them.
The lacing system is completely different, the eyes for the laces are different,
the side support panels of the shoes are different.
Those things are going to make them fit and feel different.

I've been having a tough decision between the two. I do bowl a lot, 3 to 4 times a week, usually throw 5 or 6 games every time I'm out for practice. I really don't know but the tour ultras look really nice. Not really worried about the extra cleats though. I could save about 30 bucks going with the deluxes though. I've still got a week to decide so I'll rattle my brains until then

I finally bought a pair of the ABS Tour Ultras and I am very impressed.  The shoes are more comfortable than my Dexter SST6 shoes and the heel/sole combinations are just as good if not better.  My Dexter SST6 shoes were falling apart on the front part of the non-slide shoe after 6 months of use.

Thanks for the posts, and about the exxxtras I havn't tried them but I'm not a big Linds fan and I don't really like the colors on those shoes. Besides all they come with is the cleat pack right? I would rather stay with Dexter or ABS, no offense. It sounds like ABS is probably going to be my choice, black on black tour ultra model. This might be a silly question but can someone tell me, is the toe cap on the non-slide foot slick?

I have used SST 5's & 6's and ABS, and Dexter doesn't even compare to ABS IMO.  The ABS feel like socks, they're so light and comfortable feeling.

I also have had the SST5s, SST6s and the ABS Ultras. Currently I have the ABSs and they are the best bowling shoes I have ever owned. The sole/heel options (aftermarket) are awesome. The Adjustaheel is a great tool to have in your bag.

The reason I tried ABS is that my Dexters did not hold up very well, they were kind of falling apart inside. I have put more games along with all of the running I do around the bowling alley during league (which I did not do when I wore the dexters) and the ABSs are holding up great.

I'm planning on trying out a pair of ABS Tour Ultras, when our season ends.. My SST 6's just don't hold up long enough.. I haven't had a pair last longer than a year.. My first pair, regular black 6's, held together for 1 whole month before coming apart.. next pair, same model, lasted a whole 6 months before crapping out.. Last pair has been the black LX model.. Shoes just barely making a year worth of use..
Hopefully ABS's will last longer..

I just got the ABS Dyno-Thane Sport Ultra Black/Burgandy.  They make my old Linds feel like army boots.  Super comfortable and flexible.

I will throw the SST 5 Comforts out there as well. I picked these up when I was in Birmingham. After going to them I don't know if I could go back to the 6's. Like the name says they are comfortable. Just my few cents to toss in the bucket.

I wore custom made Linds for years and had a chance to buy ABS Ultras at the Vegas Mini this past July. It took me a bit to get used the right toe and how they just felt. The best feeling shoes I have ever worn.

This is a matter of preference and although I like my ABS Ultra, I prefer the SST6 LX with the Kangaroo Leather. I have had the SST6 for more than a year and no problems.
