2016 Open Championships
« on: January 24, 2016, 03:25:19 PM »
Does anyone know if there are any special room rates or hotel discounts in Reno during the 2016 open championships? If so, where do I find those or do you just call the hotel directly?

Thank you!

Check the usbc site, they normally make it known if there is anything

One year I tried their "discount" and found it to be no better than I could do on my own.  I don't know if anything has changed in the past few years though.

I booked my hotel through Southwest when I booked my flight. I could have stayed at Circus Circus real cheap, but I HATE their stupid tram. I ended up at the Silver Legacy.

I've had good stays at Silver Legacy and ElDorado, and like sawsemdown, just avoid Circus Circus like the plague.  That place drove me crazy!

I've also had good luck at the Eldorado. The Legacy was $100.00 more than Circus Circus for 3 nights, and is worth every penny.

We booked through Southwest as they seemed to have the best package deals and no baggage fees is awesome. We are staying at the Peppermill which is a little farther out, but we are renting a car for the week so it shouldn't be too bad. I'm just excited to be going on a vacation and I'll be out there March 17th-23rd.

Sounds like my first trip to Reno. Stayed a week (way too long) and rented a car. (put. 68 cents in it to fill it back up to return it.)

This will be my 3rd trip to Reno and I think a week is too long myself as well. We found that it gave us the best deal for air/hotel. I just hope the gambling funds hold out. I don't hold my breath on the brackets because it's always a crap shoot.

Peppermill is pretty nice. I have stayed at the Grand Sierra and Atlantis. I always find that the convenience of Eldorado or Legacy trump anything else.

I couldn't agree more about the convenience of the downtown hotels. My 1st trip out I stayed at Circus Circus and the 2nd trip was at Atlantis. Atlantis was by far the better experience. We are going with my gf's parents and they really like the Peppermill. It's less than two months away and I'm getting excited. I know I'll be pissed as soon as I bowl though. LOL

Peppermill is as close as you'll get to a Vegas resort.  I haven't stayed there in years, but we usually still go down there for the champagne brunch Sunday morning.

Silver Legacy is my preferred hotel.  Harrah's used to give me deals to stay there, but not so much any more, so I don't stay there.  The other Total Rewards hotels are great to me, but Harrah's Reno seems to hate me for some reason.
Hit the pocket and hope for the best

Like others posted, downtown is much easier. I've stayed in all 3 downtown hotels and prefer the El Dorado. Circus Circus is noisy.

I stayed at the Atlantis once, and they had some good deals on rooms. But you are either at the mercy of their shuttle, or rent a car to get to the Stadium. If I recall, the Stadium charges you to park ($5 I think) if you drive there fyi.

Just booked our flights out of Denver through Southwest. Over $200/person cheaper than to fly out of Billings.

We are going to give the Sands a try. No one mentioned it, but the rates were much cheaper than the others and it is within walking distance of the downtown hotels and bowling center. I think we have to pick up bracket money at the sands as well, or maybe they changed that, not sure.

Looking forward to our trip although we aren't headed out there until middle of June.
