Currently, I am at 223.75, and working on it. Last year, I finished my leagues with a high of 215, but have averaged 224 in the past.

I figure bowling three games a week isn't much practice, so it will probably be falling anytime soon. I got on a hot streak, but those can end anytime.

215-220 for both my leagues so far this year.

Finished up last year at 210-215 after going on a tear the last 6-8 weeks of the season.

I expected to be averaging higher this season, based on last year's finish, but I guess I'm just slower starter.

I am not so sure everyone follows the rules when posting these scores. Its supposed to be scores for a specific night every week, NOT your best 3 games of the week or your best 3 games of another night. I use my Monday league and thats it. I average 218 there but on Thursday nights I have bowled 3 weeks and have averaged 249 there for 9 games but have NEVER listed any of those scores for the scratch doubles as that would be cheating..

To illustrate what Jim is talking about, this link shows our week 5 scores.  Jim is on team 7 and I am on team 17.

http://www.leaguesecretary.com/LeagueFiles.aspx?LID=18967&IFTID=1&YearNum=2008&Season=F&WeekNum=5

Link shows Jim's scores of 224, 151 and 181.  Look at the scores we have for the BR league and you see the same scores Jim has.  And that was the week his back was bad.  Point is BR shows total pins of 3181, which is what the League Secretary shows.  So there is no using his 'better' average from Thursday night he's subbing in.

If you look at my week 5 scores, they are the same between the two, as are my total pins of 3344.

My average is 240 in one house and 210 in the house that I use for our BR league. The 210 house is much harder to score in. Lots of splits on pocket shots.

Just a suspicion, I mean I honestly could care less as this is not for any money but I personally think if someone has to cheat on something like this, they are a pretty low individual..

I have done this for several years and it seems very strange to me that some bowlers NEVER have a bad game.. Its 7 something every week..

agreed. i notice that also. i'm only bowling one league, in which i'm back up to 198 after what i shot tonight. i didn't bowl last year, so i have no average to compare to but i'm up 11 pins from my entering average, and 20 from my last sanctioned.

i don't fabricate scores, nor do i have another night of bowling to use for scores. anyone can click the link in my sig to see that i'm posting the the same scores here. its just annoying to see people who claim to shoot 250 or better every game when they post scores here.

if they're really shooting like that EVERY WEEK, why are they not competing at a higher level?

quote:

Many people who are averaging 240s are really doing so, legitimately. The largest reason I see for people not competing at a higher level is that they can't afford it. It's expensive to bowl tournaments, relative to league, which seems cheap in comparison.

Also, a lot of the 240 bowlers are house bowlers. Put them on a tournament shot (or even a house shot that isn't their own) and they're lost.

I find it funny that like half the people signed up are at 230+, definitely smells fishy to me. That being said, I post my actual scores, despite the fact I struggled early on in the season and had far better series on other nights of the week. I obviously don't take it seriously and I could care less if people wanna make themselves seem better than what they really are, it just doesn't say much for those people. I'm sure if someone had a little too much free time and a little motivation, they could expose a few clowns for what they really are.

Well, I'm up 13 pins this year, but I worked VERY hard in VERY difficult conditions (no oil) over the summer to acheive this.  I just hope that it continues.

There's really no point in posting false scores on here.

I was suprised about how high the scores were though.

While we all know not everyone is honest and I am positive that people cheat but if you have no proof of who is cheating I think it is very rude to point your finger at basically everyone that is doing good this year. If you watch when people post there scores I know there are alot of legitiment postings because like me 99.99 percent of the time as soon as I get home from Monday night league I post my scores. I notice alot of other guys post on the same day every week. I bowl three leagues but post on Monday night or tuesday morning and dont even bowl again til Wednesday or Thursday. Yes alot of people are cheaters and alot of people want to say look at me look at me look what I can do even though they didnt But to accuse everyone that is doing well of cheating is rude if you want to point the finger at someone not everyone have proof. Look them up at bowl.com

I for one have posted on two different nights. But that's because there are some nights that I'm not bowling on the night I'm posting for (Saturday). If I'm not bowling on Saturday, I always let people on here know that I'll be using my Wednesday scores, and nobody seemed to have a problem with it. I used the last 2 Wednesday scores because I was out of town, but I will be back to my Saturday scores. If I were cheating I could have posted lastnights scores of 772, but I'm not.

Im bowling in 5 leagues...2 that arent posted online, 3 that are.

The 2 that arent, I am averaging 240 in a scratch league and the other is a travelling league in all MUCH tougher houses than I have ever bowled in. Im at 215 or so in that league bowling every other week. I didnt bowl in either of these league last year.

The other 3 leagues are as follows:

229 in a scratch league at a house where I struggled last year and averaged 218
http://www.leaguesecretary.com/LeagueFiles.aspx?LID=18252&IFTID=1

219 in a handicap league with my dad (who is injured) and my mom (who is blind) part time. Lets just say I pay very little attention to what Im doing in this league. See also: 140-something the last game this week thumb in. Same house as Wednesdays the previous league. I averaged about the same thing last year.
http://www.leaguesecretary.com/LeagueFiles.aspx?LID=18597&IFTID=1

228 in a Mixed Handicap League with head to head points. The handicap is based off 210---most of my matches are against other who are bowling scratch. I averaged 237 in this league last year. This is the league I use for the Ballreviews doubles league.
http://www.leaguesecretary.com/LeagueFiles.aspx?LID=39183&IFTID=1

So I bowl 5 leagues in 3 different houses and a travelling that goes to houses that I have never bowled in before. Fun stuff.

Well this is a bowling website which attracts bowlers from all over the U.S. as well as some other countries. The group of us that signed on for the BR Scratch Doubles is from a large pool of bowlers. Much larger than any one single house or even town can offer. And it is also scratch which would scare away most novice bowlers. I believe since there is really nothing at stake, people are posting their real scores.

We have some darn good bowlers on this site and some of the best ones are in this league. I'm proud to be crossing with them. Cyber crossing that is.

My BR league >> http://leaguesecretary.com/LeagueFiles.aspx?LID=31608&IFTID=1
Bowl.com >> http://members.bowl.com/SearchUSBC/ViewMember.aspx?prefix=1635&suffix=38249

I'm up about 20-25 pins this year.  New equipment + more level headed = higher average game for me.  I've practiced very intensely with this new stuff once my stuff was stolen right before the season started.  I am way more comfortable and versatile on the lanes than ever right now, and I'm keeping a steady 230 average for the most part.

No, Bowl.com does not reflect any of this.  I have no achievements and I've yearbooked 200-210 for years.

But I don't feel I really need to defend myself in this matter. I've held my own on the lanes against the best this city has to offer.  And that's prize enough for me.

Kudos to all you super bowlers out there. I have always posted my real scores.

I am bowling in three different leagues this year, with three disticnctly different oil patterns. I gusess that's why i suck this year!

One house is unmistakeably dry! The other house fluctuates between med/hvy and lite oil and the house that I post my scores from is medium to medium heavy.

I guess i'm struggling cause I'm not making the transition from one condition to the next, as smoothly as I have in the past. If I can manage to get back to the 190's, I'll be happy. I haven't even sniffed a 700 this year!!
