first game - missed a 10 pin, split.
second game - clean. Wow. I'm impressed.
third game - stone solid 7, whiff - clean other wise.
not a bad night - could have certainly been better.

Partner, I'm learning the transition;  I only had one ball out of the pocket.  However, you need to PM me some spare-shooting ability.

Hey roystriker, I've got an idea for team name...

WTFAYD =  what the f_ck are you doing..

Seems I keep saying that to myself as I fumble all over the lanes as I try and figure out what the heck I'm doing wrong..

I'm a model of consistency.  I was in the pocket all night except for 3 shots where I paid maximum penalty.  Oh well, I threw it good; that's gotta count for something.

game 1- 257
game 2- 228
game 3- 237
total- 722

The shot is too easy. I only had 1 ball less than a 9 count, and still didn't win any of my four brackets. Plus low to cash in the survivor board was 248. There were only 32 700 sets in the league tonight, and we have 24 teams of 5.

Nothing like bowling on THS!!!!!

What a week.  Couldn't find a line and adjust fast enough.

171 - 2-10 twice, washout
175 - 7-10, two buckets, missed one
185 - 4-6, struck on 15, couldn't carry on 16.  Only double was in the 10th.

521 series.

If you want my scores scroll to the bottom, if you want to see me tee off on someone continue to read.

Last night there was a heated discussion on www.bowlingchat.net about lane play. It was a 2 sided argument about execution versus how much you can miss by and still strike, and what is more important/better in todays game.

I was called stubborn and pigheaded (by someone on there who I choose not to name), when I choose to execute instead of open up my shoulders and rip the cover off the ball to cover more boards on the back and make a miss area. I was told that I need to "keep and open mind, and increase my power or ill never get better", "if you have power and come within 5 boards on the break you'll hit the pocket". I said, why not I'll try it to start out the set.

First off let me explain the shot, they are combination lanes, Guardian overlays and wood on the back, 40 foot shot double oiled the last 5 feet for more carrydown, taper to the edge from the 5 board, Medium oil volume. I decided to try this "open mind" thing.

I practiced and found the pocket a few times to set a benchmark for my miss area, then the game starts. I start out around 17 and out to 5, where the hook spot should be, with my seek & destroy, im opening up my hips and increasing my backswing and really hitting it at the bottom, probably the most revs I've ever bowled with around 300-325RPM with more axis rotation, ball just hangs out there 1-2-8-10, I continue to stick with it, trying to make shots and power the ball at the same time, I keep getting the same results no matter where I go on the lane, tighten it up a touch, soften it up, still 1-2-10's, 4-6-10's or very light 2 leaves, splits all over the place, the ball just hangs out there in the taper no matter how much power I have or how much I "wheel it" out there or how much surface I have. To test to see if the ball is "burning up" I throw my absolute inferno out there in the 9th and 10th, same results. I end the set with a pitiful 149.

I cool off, go to the bathroom because im sweating from trying to rip the cover off the ball and make a shot at the same time, and tell myself in the mirror with a wet face, "**** you're an idiot".

I start all over, take a deep breath and forget about the first game, and go back to my game the second game, steady hand, level head and square shoulders, plenty of forward roll and midlane read, using my absolute inferno, less surface, EXECUTION of my target line and reading the results. Off the edge in the taper, laying it down at 5 out to 8 at the break and to the pocket, lane taper starts to transition at the end of game 2, I end with a 235.

Last game, I follow the transition to straight up 7 for about 5 frames, 9/ X X X X, tug a poor shot a touch leave a 6-10, 8/ then  following the oil line to 10 to 8 to the pocket, X X X XXX for a 268, the lane man approached me after watching the 9th and 10th frame. He congratulated me for figuring out and scoring on a lane condition that hes been changing the last 3 weeks, and acutally brought in a cross town lane man to make it tough. The lane guy Tom invited me to a tournament for a shot to go to Las Vegas after my last game.

I DID IT MY WAY, execution and shot making.
You cost me a 700 by pumping your pompus ideas in my head and telling me to keep an open mind about area and miss room. "how much can you miss by and still strike". I lost a lot of respect for you last night with your pushy attitude, and lost even more when your approach #1 didnt work for my game, and #2 wouldnt work on this shot if you had all the surface and revs in the world.

This game hasnt changed, you can still score by executing your shots and reading the ball reaction based on properly thrown and clean balls, not "every shot good or bad".

I will take an accurate Parker Bohn III on my team over a rev master like Robert Smith everyday of the week, good or bad. Revs are overrated, I proved it tonight.

I WILL NEVER TRY TO BE SOMEONE IM NOT.

IM STICKING WITH MY GAME, WE'RE NOT ALL THE SAME.

You have a lot to learn about the game.
