Title: Ohio State Tournament
Post by: Good Times Good Times on March 09, 2017, 10:21:19 AM
Just curious if anyone has bowled yet at the Ohio State Tournament in Painesville Ohio....

I'm trying to gauge what a few people are seeing as well as the lane surfaces in each house (which I believe are synthetic) if they have.....

I bowled it. The team event at Scores, the scoring pace seems a bit higher, but there are some mechanical issues there (pins off spot, lane breakdowns more frequent than they should be). Roseland can be had for S & D, just keep the speed up. Patterns are fair but will definitely penalize you if you make mistakes.

Man scores used to be nice like 10 years ago. That bowling alley was like my first experience on synthetic

Are both houses synthetic?

Yes, both are synthetic. Just pay attention, focus, and you will be fine.

The shot at D&S was playable although a lot of people struggled.  I was mainly using a Code Black and an IQ Tour.  Had no problems getting to the pocket, just couldn't carry.  Went 639 in doubles and 655 in singles with only two opens.  Most people were playing with some surface between 5 and 10 for the best look.  Trying to swing the ball led to a huge over/under if you weren't spot on.

We also had tons of issues with pin spots being off and nobody cared to fix it.  Then three guys quit after 4 games and it threw off my rhythm a bit (my team got separated, so I was bowling with a bunch of randos).

I will try to update on team after I bowl Saturday.
