Good evening, I will be bowling in this event http://champlainlanes.com/specials-2/tournaments/. I bowled in it last year and reports of this year that the lanes are very wet and balls are getting very limited movement. I was thinking about using my original grudge pin down and sanding it down to 500 grit maybe less, to help burn up the oil in practice then switching to my pitbull/Fantatic SS at OOB, what does everyone think of this? I cant seem to find the oil pattern to provide as well.

If you can get multiple people on your pair to cooperate, then you might have better chance for success. Not sure how much impact you will be able to have on your own during a typical warm-up session.

That is the plan, I know two of the bowlers will be using Scandals but surface at 2k so not sure how much of a help that will be.

Because there's no need. The ball is going to have enough surface where dropping another 180 grit isn't going to matter. When you can see a huge difference between 2000 and 1000, why bother going lower than 500? Also, you can crosshatch sand it and really get some teeth with that 500 pad.

The Grudge is strong and the Pitbull is insanely grippy. I couldn't imagine throwing balls like that at even 1000 grit

Last year I was throwing the grudge OOB, and the ball would skate and not move at all. Over the past year I have changed a lot of my mechanics for the better, so 500 Grit might be super excessive, but I want to be prepared for this year. I have an 11 ball arsenal so not too worried if its too much ball as I have weaker stuff I change too, or change the surface before my next set.
