Do they still have the Peterson Classic in Chicago? I had never heard of it until 3-4 years ago when I started bowling with an older guy from Chicago who always talked about wanting to take me to bowl in the Peterson some day. I thought I had read that the center shut down but don't recall exactly. Anyone know if they are having it this year or if it shut down?
Also, what kind of experiences do you guys have that have bowled in it? He mentioned that it would unlike anything in bowling you would ever see.

It hasn't been in the original location for MANY years, but I believe it still goes on...and yes, it is like nothing you will EVER experience. It is quite possible to be on a pair of lanes where a polished Blue Dot (the original, not the remake) is too much ball on one lane and a heavy particle won't wrinkle on the other.
It is truly the anti-tournament tournament...

I had the chance to bowl there once about 1971. If you've ever heard of any center referred to as a 'dungeon', that was my first impression. It was a unique experience, one that I was too young to appreciate.

I went in '87 and it was interesting to say the least...or unique
Shot 278 game 4 and 1440 for 8!

All the guys in northwest Indiana go to it and love it. Its like trick pair after trick pair.

For the life of me I can't figure out how to insert a photo using my Mac. I do have the front of the Peterson flyer. If interested to see it, send me a PM with your email address.
