Any point for inserts in straight balls?
« on: May 10, 2007, 04:51:04 PM »
Hey, I'm thinking about getting a spare ball, and am also thinking about asking for tip-grip with inserts. I know inserts are mainly for lift for reactives, but I like the feel of the rubber, and just feel it would be more comfortable and that I would be more consistent with the same feel on both my reactive and plastic. Are there any downsides to doing this? Does anyone here have a straight ball with inserts?
Just curios.

I also have all my balls with both thumb slug and rubber finger inserts, plus even the same tape. For me, I like the same feel on any ball, and since I lay the spare ball down in a kind of full roller release, lift does not really matter. In fact, if you can release the ball with good and straight forward roll, a bit of lift ain't bad.

If all of your other stuff has inserts, then put them into the plastic spare ball.  If for no other reason that consistancy.  If that ball doesn't feel the same as your other ones, they you will have that in the back of your mind and probly won't throw it as well.

go for it... if you like grips and don't have it in all your balls, including spare, you will be disappointed

Hey! I made it all the way to the gutter. Shouldn't I get like 20 points or something?
